About the Role

An established FMCG business in the liquor industry is seeking a hands-on Retail / Wholesale Manager to take full ownership of operations, sales growth, and team performance across the PE/Uitenhage region.

This is not a corporate retail role. The environment includes liquor outlets, informal markets, and shebeens, requiring a manager who is commercially aggressive, street-smart, and comfortable operating in a fast-paced, relationship-driven trading environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage day-to-day retail and wholesale liquor operations
  • Drive sales growth across formal retail, wholesale, and informal trade channels
  • Build and manage relationships with liquor outlets, taverns, and shebeens
  • Actively identify and open new wholesale and informal market opportunities
  • Manage, lead, and performance-drive sales and store teams
  • Ensure consistent product availability through effective stock control and ordering
  • Monitor pricing, margins, and competitor activity in the market
  • Maintain high service levels across all customer segments
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and operational standards
  • Report on sales performance and implement corrective strategies where needed

Minimum Requirements

  • Proven experience in liquor / FMCG wholesale or retail management
  • Strong understanding of the informal market and township trade environment
  • Demonstrated success in growing sales and managing key accounts
  • Experience calling on liquor outlets, taverns, or similar channels
  • Strong leadership and team management capability
  • Valid driver's licence (essential)
  • Willingness to travel locally and be on the road regularly

Remuneration & Benefits

  • Salary: R30,000 – R40,000 per month
