Role Purpose
The Business Operations Manager is responsible for overseeing day-to-day people leadership and operational coordination for a distributed workforce. The role focuses on enabling consistent delivery, team effectiveness, and operational continuity while acting as a key connection point between operational teams and business stakeholders. This position ensures that people, processes, and performance remain aligned with organisational priorities.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide direct leadership and oversight to operational staff, with accountability for team effectiveness, engagement, and professional conduct.
- Support team members through regular communication, coaching, and engagement activities to promote productivity and sustained performance.
- Foster a positive and inclusive team environment through structured engagement initiatives, recognition practices, and team activities.
- Coordinate with business leaders to align team capacity, priorities, and workload requirements.
- Establish and maintain performance measures for teams and individual roles that align with operational objectives.
- Track, review, and report on team performance, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
- Develop and maintain role documentation, standard operating procedures, process maps, and work instructions to ensure clarity and consistency.
- Oversee general operational support activities, including coordination with internal support functions, system access, and compliance-related requirements.
- Act as a point of coordination between operational teams and technical or service partners to ensure timely access, issue resolution, and operational readiness.
- Provide support to core operational processes during peak periods, including validation, reconciliation, and workload management activities where required.
- Ensure adherence to internal policies, governance standards, and applicable regulatory requirements.
- Assist with workforce planning activities such as scheduling, onboarding, offboarding, and resource coordination.
People Leadership & Team Management
This role carries responsibility for supporting a stable, engaged, and effective workforce. The focus is on maintaining team morale, addressing concerns proactively, and ensuring individuals feel connected to the broader organisation.
Performance & KPI Management
The Business Operations Manager defines and monitors success through clear performance indicators and measurable outcomes. This includes designing appropriate metrics, maintaining tracking mechanisms, reviewing results, and collaborating with business leaders to drive continuous improvement.
Reporting & Stakeholder Interaction
The role works closely with senior leaders, internal stakeholders, operational staff, and external service providers. It supports business priorities by translating requirements into structured workloads and measurable outcomes.
