Roles and Responsibilities
- Prepare 2D subdivision and civil drawings using AutoCAD.
- Produce detailed design and drafting documentation for residential subdivision and land development projects.
- Independently interpret residential subdivision briefs and translate project requirements into accurate subdivision and lot layouts.
- Prepare site layouts, lot layouts, road alignments, utility layouts, and associated civil drawings.
- Interpret engineering drawings, survey data, project specifications, and subdivision briefs to produce accurate drafting outputs.
- Review project briefs and available information, identify gaps or unclear requirements, and proactively seek clarification before proceeding with drafting work.
- Update and revise drawings based on engineer and client feedback.
- Coordinate with engineers, designers, and project stakeholders throughout project delivery.
- Ensure drawings comply with project standards, drafting conventions, and Australian design requirements and industry practices.
- Manage multiple drafting projects while meeting quality standards and deadlines.
- Participate in team meetings to review project progress and workload.
- Work independently while maintaining drafting accuracy and meeting project deadlines.
Required Experience
- Proven experience in residential subdivision drafting and land development design.
- Experience preparing subdivision and civil infrastructure drawings.
- Specific experience interpreting residential subdivision briefs and developing accurate lot/subdivision layouts.
- Strong experience using AutoCAD.
- Experience interpreting engineering drawings, survey plans, design documentation, and project specifications.
- Experience working on Australian residential subdivision projects is strongly preferred.
- Familiarity with Australian subdivision practices, design requirements, and relevant industry standards.
- Experience using 12d Model (12D) is advantageous.
Minimum Qualifications
- Diploma or Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering, Drafting Technology, Engineering Design, Architecture, or a related field.
- Strong understanding of civil drafting principles, residential subdivision, and land development documentation.
- Ability to accurately interpret engineering plans, specifications, survey information, and subdivision briefs.
Candidate Must Have
- Advanced AutoCAD proficiency (Mandatory).
- Proven residential subdivision and land development drafting experience.
- Ability to independently interpret a residential subdivision brief and translate it into an accurate subdivision/lot layout.
- Strong understanding of Australian residential subdivision practices and requirements.
- Ability to identify missing, unclear, or conflicting information and proactively ask clarifying questions before proceeding with drafting work.
- Strong attention to detail and drafting accuracy.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work independently while meeting project deadlines.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate effectively within a remote project team.
Proficient With
- AutoCAD (Mandatory)
- Microsoft Office Suite
- PDF markup and document management software
Experience Advantage
- Experience using 12d Model (12D).
- Extensive experience working on Australian residential subdivision developments.
- Experience preparing civil infrastructure drawings for roads, drainage, earthworks, and utility services.
- Familiarity with Australian land development standards and local council requirements.
- Experience coordinating directly with Australian engineers, designers, surveyors, or project stakeholders.
