We are seeking an experienced offshore Bookkeeper to support an Australian-based business. The ideal candidate will have 3–5 years of experience working with Australian companies, strong proficiency in Xero and Airwallex, and the ability to manage end-to-end bookkeeping with accuracy and reliability.
Roles and Responsibilities
- Manage end-to-end bookkeeping using Xero, including daily transactions, reconciliations, and accurate coding.
- Prepare payroll in Xero, including leave, allowances, reimbursements, and ABA wage files for approval.
- Prepare superannuation batches and track superannuation deadlines.
- Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and Airwallex transactions on a weekly basis.
- Prepare all BAS working papers, including GST, PAYG, and supporting financial schedules.
- Coordinate BAS preparation with the external accountant to ensure timely review and lodgement.
- Prepare quarterly financial statements, including Profit & Loss, Balance Sheet, and Cashflow reports.
- Maintain accurate job tracking, expense allocation, and financial records.
- Process and review expenses via Airwallex and Dext in line with internal guidelines.
- Follow up overdue invoices and expected contractor invoices as required.
- Communicate effectively with Australian-based managers, accountants, and internal teams.
- Identify and recommend process improvements to enhance bookkeeping and reporting workflows.
- Escalate compliance issues, anomalies, or discrepancies promptly.
Required Experience
- Minimum 3+ years of Australian bookkeeping experience, preferably within a firm.
- Strong hands-on experience using Xero for end-to-end bookkeeping.
- Experience preparing BAS and PAYG documentation.
- Payroll and superannuation experience in Xero.
- Proven experience working directly with Australian-based stakeholders.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills.
- High attention to detail, accuracy, and confidentiality.
- Proactive, organised, and able to manage multiple deadlines independently.
Experience Advantage
- Experience using Airwallex for expense and card transaction management.
- Experience with Dext for invoice and expense processing.
- Familiarity with Australian compliance requirements (GST, PAYG, superannuation).
- Prior experience in a client-facing, offshore, or shared services environment.
