About the job Deli Supervisor

Role & Responsibilities:

  • Manage a team of deli employees, including scheduling, training, and performance evaluations.
  • Maintain inventory levels by monitoring stock levels, ordering products, and rotating stock as necessary.
  • Ensure food quality by monitoring freshness, preparing and presenting food according to established standards, and implementing procedures to prevent spoilage and waste.
  • Provide excellent customer service by greeting customers, answering questions, and resolving complaints in a timely and professional manner.
  • Monitor and enforce health and safety standards, including food handling and preparation procedures, equipment maintenance, and sanitation practices.
  • Monitor and maintain the cleanliness and organization of the deli department, including storage areas, equipment, and display cases.
  • Develop and implement sales strategies to increase deli department revenue.
  • Analyze sales data to identify trends and adjust inventory levels and product offerings accordingly.
  • Participate in departmental and store-wide meetings and training sessions as required.

Job Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; college degree in food service management or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a deli or food service management role.
  • Knowledge of deli products, food preparation, and food safety standards.
  • Strong leadership skills and ability to motivate and develop a team.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Proficiency in basic computer skills, including word processing, spreadsheets, and email.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, as required.
  • Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for extended periods of time
