Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced CNC Machinist specializing in Wire EDM operations to join a precision manufacturing team producing high-quality machined components. This role is ideal for a highly skilled machinist who can independently set up, operate, and program CNC and Wire EDM equipment with minimal training.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with CNC mills, lathes, and Wire EDM machines, along with advanced blueprint reading and G-Code programming capabilities. Candidates should be comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment while maintaining strict quality and safety standards.

This position requires a machinist who can contribute immediately with minimal supervision, learning primarily the company's products and manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

CNC & Wire EDM Machine Operation

• Set up and operate CNC mills, lathes, and Wire EDM machines
• Perform tooling setup, workpiece alignment, and machine calibration
• Operate machinery efficiently while maintaining tight tolerances and production quality
• Experience with Makino machines is highly preferred

CNC Programming

• Program, edit, and troubleshoot G-Code programs directly at machine controls
• Modify machine programs to improve machining efficiency and part accuracy
• Work with Fanuc and Mitsubishi control systems

Blueprint Reading & Precision Measurement

• Interpret complex blueprints, GD&T drawings, and engineering specifications
• Verify dimensional accuracy using:
  • Micrometers
  • Calipers
  • Gauges
  • Precision measuring instruments
• Ensure finished components meet strict blueprint and quality standards

Quality & Process Control

• Perform in-process and final inspections
• Maintain detailed production documentation and routing sheets
• Track materials and completed production activities accurately
• Identify and resolve machining or dimensional discrepancies

Maintenance & Troubleshooting

• Conduct routine preventative maintenance on CNC and Wire EDM equipment
• Troubleshoot machine performance and operational issues
• Maintain a clean, organized, and OSHA-compliant work environment

Required Qualifications

• Minimum 4 years of CNC Machining and Wire EDM experience
• Strong hands-on experience with:
  • CNC mills
  • CNC lathes
  • Wire EDM machines
• Experience performing complete machine setup including tooling and operation
• Proficiency with G-Code programming and editing
• Experience with Fanuc and Mitsubishi controls required
• Strong blueprint reading and GD&T interpretation skills
• Solid understanding of shop math, trigonometry, and precision measurement
• Ability to work independently with minimal training
• High attention to detail and commitment to quality standards

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with Makino CNC machines
• Experience machining ceramic materials
• Familiarity with EDM software such as:
  • Mastercam
  • Esprit

Physical Requirements

• Ability to stand for extended periods
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds
• Comfortable working in a manufacturing/shop environment
