About the job Tool & Die Maker

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM equipment
  • Fabricate and repair injection molds, stamping dies, jigs, and fixtures to tight tolerances
  • Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T specifications
  • Perform heat treatment, surface finishing, and fitting of tool components
  • Inspect finished tooling using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, CMM, gauges)
  • Collaborate with design engineers to suggest improvements for manufacturability
  • Maintain shop equipment and tooling inventory

Qualifications

  • Completion of a Tool & Die apprenticeship program or Associate degree in Tool & Die Technology
  • 0–2 years of experience in a tool and die shop environment
  • Proficiency with manual machining and familiarity with CNC operations
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings with GD&T
  • Knowledge of tool steels, heat treatment processes, and material properties
  • Strong mathematical skills and mechanical aptitude
