About the job Tool & Die Maker
Responsibilities
- Set up and operate manual and CNC machine tools including lathes, mills, grinders, and EDM equipment
- Fabricate and repair injection molds, stamping dies, jigs, and fixtures to tight tolerances
- Interpret engineering drawings, CAD models, and GD&T specifications
- Perform heat treatment, surface finishing, and fitting of tool components
- Inspect finished tooling using precision measuring instruments (micrometers, CMM, gauges)
- Collaborate with design engineers to suggest improvements for manufacturability
- Maintain shop equipment and tooling inventory
Qualifications
- Completion of a Tool & Die apprenticeship program or Associate degree in Tool & Die Technology
- 0–2 years of experience in a tool and die shop environment
- Proficiency with manual machining and familiarity with CNC operations
- Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings with GD&T
- Knowledge of tool steels, heat treatment processes, and material properties
- Strong mathematical skills and mechanical aptitude
