Job Summary
Senior Electrical Engineer will work within a team of engineers and will provide a high level of leadership, mentoring, and training to junior staff. He/she will also be running projects managing engineering teams, determining staffing efforts, interfacing with clients, coordinating with other disciplines, etc. He/she may also oversee the entire design process or assist as a technical expert on a specialized design. Candidate may work on several concurrent projects. The Senior Electrical Engineer must have extensive experience in all areas of electrical design and be an expert in his/her discipline. The Senior Electrical Engineer will work alongside other professionals to ensure deadlines are met, liaising with external stakeholders, attending meetings, using CAD software to produce detailed designs, ensuring all projects remain within budgetary and time constraints
Responsibilities:
Managerial Functions
- To receive project brief from Principal MEP or from Project Manager/Team Leader.
- Interact with Team Leader/Project Manager/Project Architect to understand design intent of the project.
- Participate in the meetings with Clients for discussion on electrical works of the project when advised by the Management MEP, Project Manager/Project Architect.
- Impart-on-job training to Engineer and modelers
- Support in Keeping updated/latest codes, standards, reference books, catalogues in the departmental library.
- To officiate as Project Manager / Lead Engineer if instructed to do so.
- Design internal lighting, small power, lighting protection, cathodic protection, external lighting and electrical supply to mechanical equipment.
- Discuss and finalize conceptual design, carry out preliminary, basic and detailed design and complete the formalities for obtaining Municipal approvals.
- Leads the discipline design to produce construction documents that meet the project requirements within the allocated schedule and budget while minimizing erroneous efforts.
- Have a solid understanding of engineering fundamentals and advanced concepts to execute all required aspects of discipline engineering.
Operational Functions
- Review estimate connected load for the project. Write to Authorities like EDD (Planning) for power requirement, EWA (ISSD) for existing services and for telephone services.
- Prepare Outline specification and query list for Electrical services to submit to client for his approval.
- Discuss and finalize the concept scheme for Electrical services with Lead Engineer/Associate Director MEP/Project Manager for Clients approval. Raise query list for Clients to response for requirements.
- Inform Project Architect about the requirement of space for electrical equipment such as intake substation, transformers, HV/LV switchgear, diesel generator room, electrical room (for MP, SMP & DB), battery charging room, PABX room, UPS room, risers, trenches, underfloor trunking for electrical and low voltage systems etc.
- Inform requirement of ventilation, air-conditioning, fire protection, fire rating for the dedicated rooms for electrical equipment.
- Comply with BS, EN, NFPA standards as well as local electrical regulations for designing of electrical services. Inform Project Architect about specific safety requirements to be incorporated in civil works.
- Discuss and finalize requirement of electrical light fixtures
- Coordinate with Mechanical, Structural and Architectural disciplines for space requirement for electrical cable trays, trunking, light fixtures, ducts in the ceiling void, manhole/draw pit sizes and locations. Inform conduit size in screed to enable Architect to decide screed thickness.
- Check electrical drawings as part of QA/QC procedure. Review architectural, structural and mechanical services drawings to ensure that the provisions and requirements of electrical equipment are adequately kept.
- Verifies designers work quality regarding specifications, reports, code application, submittal review, equipment selection, deliverables, and drawings.
- Utilize BIM for design and automation.
- Review, edit and compile electrical specifications.
- Review Bill of Quantities prepared by team for approval.
- Participate regularly in the project technical coordination meetings.
- Regular correspondence with Client and statutory agencies as required, staff, other departments, external Consultants and Supervisors.
- Review and finalize reports/ information when requested by management
- Distribute project related correspondence to project team members & Prepare project meeting minutes Schedule in-house discipline meetings.
- Oversee deliverables to and from clients & encourage coordination between disciplines.
- Provide continuous support for the Project Manager.

Required Qualifications
- Min Bachelor Degree in Electrical Engineering. Chartered is an added advantage.
- Any relevant certifications / license hall be an added advantage
- LEED AP a plus.
Required Experience
- 10+ years of experience in the field of Electrical Engineering
