Job Summary
Associate Director is responsible to lead architectural teams/ studio effectively from conception till delivery of projects under guidance of Director and to coordination with other consultants and engineering disciplines for successful completion of projects in timely manner and within approved budgets. Further responsible for assisting Director in developing budgets/ policies/ procedures for the organization. Associate Director is required to handle clients and manage various projects, teams and resources.
Responsibilities:
Managerial Functions
- Lead and mentor all the design teams under his/her leadership holding the responsibilities of QA/QC, financial performance, client management and scope control for all the projects of his/her team.
- Ensure implementation of department policies, standards, and procedures by the architectural team members.
- Participate in the Business Development of the company to find new projects market study to focus on prospective Clients.
- Provide inputs on preparation of business plan and department strategy. Further ensure effective and efficient resource management and timely coordination of all resources in each project. Execute staff movement from one project to another in case of emergency.
- Build a network of professional relationships with existing and prospective clients.
- Remain up-to-date with current and trending elements of design and technology by following the industry publications and journals and attending professional development courses and events as time permits.
- Evaluate design specifications and project plans to approve or recommend changes in design.
- Lead, coordinate and oversee all technical activities relating to architectural and engineering projects, including directing the design team, reviewing drafts and computer models, and approving design changes.
- Review the tender and fee proposal in draft form and provide comments and inputs for finalisation of the same.
- Discuss and obtain inputs from other Discipline Directors / Team Leaders for the preparation of Fee Proposals.
- Coordinate and communicate with Client, Project Managers, External Consultants, Specialist Consultants and other relevant external agencies as required, to discuss and organize projects from original conceptual design through construction and in order to ensure quality delivery of Projects on time.
Operational Functions
- Evaluate Project Programs and deliverables on various projects (in-house and external) that are running concurrently and forecast additional resource requirements and identify possibilities. Oversee the training of architectural personnel.
- Liaise with Internal Quality set procedures and initiate measures for corrective and preventive action on non-conformances.
- Provide feedback on staff working under him/her for accurate performance evaluation.
- Innovate and develop new standards, policies, and procedures for architectural design and engineering work as necessary to minimize costs and maximize efficiency.
- Ensure the quality of production is kept to the company's high standards.
- Manage teams of architects to ensure high quality work output.
- Coordinate and assign job duties to the team to ensure smooth work operations.
- Ensure all projects are completed in time and on budget.
- Ensure proper documentation of all projects for all design stages.
- Ensure compliance with applied building codes and regulations.
- Take key decisions to resolve any issue or difficulty faced by the teams.
- Act as Project Director for all projects of his/ her team.
- Run regular reviews for all the projects regarding their financial performance along the design duration.
- Hold full responsibility of the QA/QC process for all projects in his/ her team along with coordination with other departments/ disciplines.
- Execute all his/ her projects as per agreed scope of work, program and budget.
- Responsible of training programs and setting development plans for all members of the team.
- Responsible for steering and influencing the design philosophy and approach of the company together with the other Associate Directors and Directors.
- Conduct Performance evaluation reviews of all his reporting team members.

Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Architecture from an accredited University.
- Post graduate degree/ Masters of Architecture preferred.
Required Experience
- 21+ years of experience in the field of architectural engineering.
