Laboratory Supervisor

Tasks and Duties:

1. Sets up, maintains, and organizes student laboratories

2. Assists students with setting up experiments and other learning exercises, and with the use of the civil engineering

equipment and materials

3. Maintains appropriate safety and hygiene standards

4. Maintains required documentation related to laboratory activities and experiments.

5. Manages equipment and materials inventories specific to civil engineering labs.

6. Maintaining laboratory supplies- laboratory equipment, including testing equipment, concrete materials, and soil

samples.

7. Determines equipment and material requirements, prepares purchase specifications, and coordinates acquisitions.

8. Applies principles of materials science, environmental engineering, and structural analysis relevant to civil engineering.

9. Covers subject matter related to civil engineering courses taught at this college.

10. Operational characteristics of apparatus, equipment and materials used in civil engineering laboratories.

11. Manages all stock rooms relevant to civil engineering materials and tools.

12. Prepares materials and supplies for civil engineering laboratory courses.

13. Participating in the design, development and testing of new experiments.

14. Trains and supervises other technicians in laboratory practices and safety procedures.

15. Participate in carrying out some field/ lab experiments of projects.

16. Ensuring proper handling, storage and disposal of wastes and hazardous materials in accordance with safety and hygiene

standards.

17. Maintaining laboratory records and inventories

18. Preparing and general maintenance of laboratory equipment and instruments

19. Other relevant tasks as requested by the college.

Qualifications & Experience:

A Bachelors degree in civil engineering or related field.

Preferably with 2 years relevant work experience.

Basic knowledge of higher education accreditation and quality assurance requirements.
