Responsible for ensuring that electrical power cables are correctly connected, insulated, and maintained to guarantee a safe and reliable electricity supply

Primary objective 

Connect, joint, and terminate low-, medium-, and high-voltage power cables in compliance with EWA regulations and project standards. Ensure all electrical connections are safe, reliable, and durable to minimize downtime and prevent faults or hazards within the power distribution system. Collaborate effectively with the team in performing electrical installation, wiring and other related project activities to ensure efficient execution and high-quality project outcomes.

Working hours 

Usually, work is around 48 hours a week, starting early in the morning. You may have to work overtime during evenings, nights, and weekends. They may have to report to different sites and perform duties accordingly.

Summary of Main Duties 

1. Carry out cable termination, spiking, and jointing for low voltage (LV) and medium voltage (MV) / high- voltage (HV) power cable systems in accordance with project drawings and standards. 2. Identify cable routes, perform excavation and backfilling in coordination with civil teams. 3. Install underground cables, including straight joints, switchgear terminations, transformers, RMUs, generator connections. 4. Work both indoors and outdoors, and occasionally in limited or underground locations, requiring the ability to climb, bend, and kneel for long periods of time. 5. Maintain job-site cleanliness, document progress, test results, time sheets, and report any incidents or risks. 6. Ensure that all works meet safety standards and as per EWA standards and required specifications. 7. Provide support during outages, maintenance shifts and fault-response as required. 8. Locate cable faults using test equipment and repair faulty sections safely and efficiently. 9. Coordinate material requests and ensure proper inventory of jointing kits and tools. 10. Support efficiency and quality improvements within the maintenance or project team. 11. Participate in monitoring electrical works, including cable routing and electrical wiring and installation activities, and assist in conducting electrical inspections and testing to ensure compliance with project specifications and safety standards. 12. Participate in general site activities as required, including coordination with other teams, and supporting overall project operations to ensure smooth workflow and timely completion
