Lead Architect

Job Summary

A Lead Architect Concept Designer is primarily responsible for developing architectural concept designs for all types of projects, while coordinating with all other disciplines and stakeholders. In the process, he will be in-charge of leading a concept design team of architect(s), graphics designers, and Revit / CAD technicians as required. As Lead Concept Designer you will be responsible for correct visual representation of an idea or concept for the final product which is visually appealing.

Responsibilities:

Managerial Functions

1. 1. To act as the project design coordinator and the design manager in relation to Concepts design of the project.

1. 2. Leads design team of Architects, Visualiser, Graphic Designer and Revit / CAD technicians, with all the responsibilities of scheduling, organizing, coordinating, and executing the design work of his/her projects to best qualities.

1. 3. Discuss and finalize project schedule in coordination with Associate Director, Director and Managing Director.

1. 4. Prepare manpower allocation schedule for the project to finalize the project team.

1. 5. Assign work to the team in consultation with Associate Director / Director / MD.

1. 6. Initiate and conduct project coordination meetings as required and prepare necessary minutes and follow up trackers.

1. 7. Monitor the time allocated by junior staff and supervise them on their tasks.

1. 8. Conduct progress meetings with Clients / other consultants and Client appointed agencies. Prepare necessary minutes of meetings.

Operational Functions

1. 1. Prepare concept designs for projects along with 3D perspective views.

1. 2. Lead Designer should also be capable of creating detailed designs and renderings including animations (walk through concepts), graphic designs, elegant elevations etc.

1. 3. If required, undertake further development of project through schematic design to detail/construction drawings), while coordinating with all other disciplines and stakeholders.

1. 4. Ensure the designs are prepared considering statutory regulations, building byelaws, and fire & life safety requirements.

1. 5. Coordinate and lead the assigned team of Architects, Visualiser and Graphic Designer on a day-to-day basis and ensure that design excellence is achieved throughout.

1. Lead the design work ensuring project objectives are met, design instructions are implemented, and delivery is achieved within the set time and budget.

1. Responsible for the correctness, accuracy, and complete conducting multi-disciplinary coordination process of the design and preparing well-coordinated documentation.

1. Act as the clients point of contact for design related issues.

1. Responsible for design presentations to the Client and all stakeholders.

1. Act as a mentor to new Architects and helping them fine-tune their design skills and improve their industry knowledge.

1. Responsible for the architectural resource planning for the project and report project needs to the Associate/ Directors.

1. Plan, coordinate and manage project deliverables. Further review these documents from the quality perspective to ensure no lapses.

1. Carry-out independent design reviews for all types of projects.

1. Research and maintain knowledge of various engineering disciplines, application methods, and materials.

1. Ensure the designs, details and specifications are apt for the type of project including budget constraints.

1. Prepare progress reports during the design stage for submission to the Client.

1. Prepare minutes of meetings of all meetings with clients and stakeholders.

1. Ensure all documentation is maintained for record purpose and stored for future reference.

Skills Required

1. Excellent Architectural & Interior design skills along with innovative thinking and ideas to develop outstanding landmark designs.
2. Sound knowledge of Exterior and interior orientation, massing, form, apertures, height, light etc.
3. Sound knowledge of the Landscape hard and soft surfaces, types of planting, scale of painting, arrangement of planting etc.
4. Sound knowledge of Finishes, Fixtures and fittings colors, styles, textures, materials genre, style, scale, amount, material etc.
5. Sound knowledge of structural and MEP engineering.
6. Good knowledge of architectural materials and finishes and its usage.
7. Proficiency in REVIT, Sketch-up, 3Dmax, AutoCAD and other 3D and design platforms, along with excellent knowledge of various software used for architectural presentations.
8. In depth expertise and knowledge to develop design and building construction details with current construction methodology.
9. Strong developed leadership & communication skills.
10. Ability to make critical decisions on timely basis considering quality.
11. Self-motivated, dedicated, with willingness to work long hours, under time and budget pressure.
12. Ability to assess project plans and specifications to identify architectural flaws and recommend changes.

16. Developed significant problem solving, presentation and communication skills.
17. Full knowledge of Statutory Authorities requirements, knowledge of codes, regulations, and Submission requirements.
18. Developed knowledge of Fire & Life Safety Principles.
19. Ability and will to mentor and provide support to junior staff members and spread knowledge across the wider architectural community.
20. Excellent command of English (written and spoken). Knowledge of other languages is an added value.
21. Developed knowledge of Sustainable Design principles and its monitoring.
22. Knowledge of project scheduling software programs like MS Projects, or Primavera.

Required Qualifications

1. Bachelors Degree in Architecture from an accredited University.

1. Post graduate degree/ Masters of Architecture.

Required Experience

1. Minimum 12+ years or above experience in the field of Architectural Design & Engineering.
