Summary

The MECHANIC (DIESEL ENGINES) is responsible for the maintenance, repair, and troubleshooting of mechanical systems and equipment on vessels, barges, cranes, and heavy equipment owned by a marine logistics company. This role involves with mechanical tasks, conducting inspections, performing basic repairs, and ensuring the efficient operation of mechanical systems. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Perform maintenance and repair work on mechanical systems and equipment, including engines, hydraulic systems, transmissions, pumps, and other components, following established procedures and safety standards.

Learn and perform routine inspections and preventive maintenance tasks to identify potential mechanical issues and ensure equipment reliability.

.

Diagnose mechanical problems, using basic diagnostic tools and equipment, and providing assistance in timely repairs.

.

Disassemble and reassemble machinery and equipment, under the guidance of the supervisor, and inspect parts for wear, damage, or malfunction.

.

Operate hand and power tools to perform repairs, fabrication, and maintenance tasks.

.

Assist in interpreting technical manuals, diagrams, and schematics to understand the layout, operation, and basic repair procedures for mechanical systems and equipment.

.

Collaborate with other technical teams, such as electrical and hydraulic teams, to ensure effective integration and coordination of mechanical systems with other onboard systems.

.

Follow instructions and assist in conducting tests and measurements to verify system performance, identify potential hazards, and ensure compliance with safety regulations.

.

Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, work orders, inspections, and repairs performed, ensuring proper documentation.

.

Adhere to safety protocols and procedures, including proper use of personal protective equipment (PPE) and following lockout/tagout practices.

.

Learn and stay updated with technical manuals, bulletins, and industry best practices related to the maintenance and repair of marine mechanical systems.

.

Support other mechanics in the procurement of spare parts, tools, and equipment necessary for maintenance and repairs.

.

Participate in safety drills, training sessions, and emergency response exercises to enhance preparedness and response capabilities.

Comply with company policies, procedures, and environmental standards, ensuring the proper disposal of hazardous materials and adherence to environmental regulations.

Collaborate with other team members, providing support and assistance as needed.

Actively participate in professional development opportunities to enhance mechanical knowledge and skills. Qualifications & Experience
.
High school diploma or equivalent. Technical certification or vocational training in mechanical engineering or related field is a plus.
.
Basic understanding of mechanical systems and equipment.
.
Familiarity with hand and power tools commonly used in mechanical repairs.
.
Ability to follow instructions and work collaboratively in a team environment.
.
Physical stamina and the ability to perform manual tasks associated with mechanical maintenance and repairs.
.
Basic knowledge of safety procedures and practices in mechanical work.
.
Proficient in using basic computer applications for documentation and record keeping.
.
Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic is a plus. Language Skills
