About the job Senior Architect
Job Summary
Primarily, a Senior Architect is expected to develop a project as needed, through all the design stages (concept/schematic to detail/construction drawings), while coordinating with all other disciplines and stakeholders. In the process, he will be in-charge of leading a project team of architect(s) and Revit / CAD technicians. He/she is also be expected to handle post contract duties on all design related matters during construction and aid the site team as required. He/she is also expected to mentor and guide junior architects and play a positive role in their growth.
Responsibilities:
Managerial Functions
- Act as the projects design coordinator and the design manager of the project.
- Leads an architectural design team of Architects, Assistants and CAD technicians, with all the responsibilities of scheduling, organizing, coordinating, and executing the design work of his/her projects to best qualities.
- 1.3 Discuss and finalize project schedule.
- 1.4 Prepare manpower allocation schedule for the project and accordingly consult Associate / Associate Director Manager to finalize the project team.
- 1.5 Assign work to Architects / Assistant Architects and CAD technicians in consultation with Associate/ Manager.
- 1.6 Initiate and conduct project coordination meetings as required and submit project status on a monthly basis to the Associate / Manager. Prepare necessary minutes and follow up trackers.
- 1.7 Monitor the time allocated by junior staff and supervise them on each project.
- 1.8 Conduct progress meetings with Clients / other consultants and Client appointed agencies. Prepare necessary minutes of meetings.
Operational Functions
- 1. Prepare concept designs for new projects along with perspective views.
- 2. Undertake further development of project through schematic design to detail/construction drawings), while coordinating with all other disciplines and stakeholders.
- 3. Coordinate and lead the assigned team of Architects and Technicians on a day-to-day basis and ensure that design excellence is achieved throughout.
- 4. Responsible for the correctness, accuracy and complete conducting multi-disciplinary coordination process of the design and preparing well-coordinated documentation prepared by the assigned team.
- 5. Coordinate and develop/ review responses to review comments, tender queries, contractors queries, etc.
- 6. Act as the clients point of contact for design related issues.
- 7. Ensure all plans are compliant with authority byelaws and regulations.
- 8. Act as a mentor to new Architects and helping them fine-tune their design skills and improve their industry knowledge.
- 9. Responsible for the architectural resource planning for the project and report project needs to the associate / manager.
- 10. Plan, coordinate and manage project deliverables. Further review these documents from the quality perspective to ensure no lapses.
- 11. Conduct Performance evaluation reviews to all his reporting team members.
- 12. Carry-out independent design reviews for all types of projects.
- 13. Take responsibility for coaching of all reporting Architects and CAD Technicians in his team.
- 14. Take initiatives to develop design manuals, standard design documents, presentations, etc. to increase efficiencies, knowledge and awareness across the wider architectural community.
- 15. Research and maintain knowledge of various engineering disciplines, application methods, and materials.
- 16. Ensure the designs, details and specifications are apt for the type of project and budget constraints.
- 17. Initiate and compile detailed / particular specifications document for the project.
- 18. Prepare monthly progress reports during the precontract design stage for submission to the Client.
- 19. Assist in preparation of RFPs and other procurement documents for the procurement of specialist consultants and other outside agencies.
- 20. Prepare minutes of meetings of all meetings with clients and stakeholders.
- 21. Responsible for coordinating with all authorities and be responsible for compiling and concluding all authority required permits, like building permits, wayleaves, etc.
Skills Required
- Proven past architectural design skills along with proficiency in REVIT (Extensive knowledge) AutoCAD and other associated software and design platforms.
- Extensive project execution experience.
- Sound knowledge of structural and MEP engineering.
- Good knowledge of architectural materials and finishes and its usage.
- In depth expertise and knowledge to develop design and building construction details with current construction methodology.
- Strong Developed leadership & communication skills.
- Ability to make critical decisions on timely basis considering quality.
- Ability to assess project plans project plans and specifications to identify architectural flaws and recommend changes.
- Deadline-driven and dedicated to excellence.
- Flexibility and attitude towards company objectives.
- Cordial relationships with clients and stakeholders (consultants, engineers, specialists, and contractors) by effective interpersonal skills
- Developed significant problem solving, presentation and communication skills.
- Full knowledge of Statutory Authorities requirements, knowledge of codes, regulations, and submission requirements.
- Developed knowledge of Fire & Life Safety Principles.
- Ability and will to mentor and provide support to junior staff members and spread knowledge across the wider architectural community.
- Excellent command of English (written and spoken). Knowledge of other languages is an added value.
- Developed knowledge of Sustainable Design principles and its monitoring.
- Knowledge of project scheduling software programs like MS Project, or Primavera.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelors Degree in Architecture from an accredited University.
- Post graduate degree / Masters of Architecture.
Required Experience
- 10+ years of experience in the field of architectural engineering.
