Job Summary
The Automation Engineer is responsible for designing, developing, programming, testing, and commissioning automation and control systems. The role involves working with PLCs, SCADA/DCS systems, field instruments, and industrial networks to ensure reliable, safe, and efficient operation of automated processes.
Key Responsibilities
Design & Engineering
Develop automation system architectures, control philosophies, and functional design specifications
Prepare I/O lists, control narratives, cause & effect diagrams, and logic diagrams
Select PLCs, DCS, SCADA systems, and field devices based on project requirements
Prepare control panel layouts, wiring diagrams, and loop drawings
Programming & Configuration
Program and configure PLCs, HMI, SCADA, and DCS systems
Develop and test control logic, alarms, interlocks, and sequences
Configure industrial communication protocols (Modbus, Profibus, Profinet, Ethernet/IP, OPC)
Implement cybersecurity best practices for industrial automation systems
Testing & Commissioning
Conduct FAT, SAT, and site commissioning activities
Perform loop checking, logic testing, and performance verification
Troubleshoot automation systems during installation and startup
Support plant operations during initial operation and handover
Documentation & Compliance
Prepare and maintain engineering documents, test reports, and as-built drawings
Ensure compliance with project specifications, international standards, and client requirements
Follow safety procedures and quality management systems (ISO, client-specific standards)
Coordination & Support
Coordinate with electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, and process teams
Interface with clients, vendors, and subcontractors
Provide technical support and training to operators and maintenance teams
Qualifications & Skills
Bachelors degree in Automation, Electrical, Instrumentation, or Control Engineering
1–3 years of experience in industrial automation projects
Basic knowledge of PLCs and automation systems
Familiarity with at least one platform (Siemens, Rockwell, Schneider, ABB, or similar)
Willingness to work on site and travel when required
