Job Summary

Senior Mechanical Engineer will work within a team of engineers and will provide a high level of leadership, mentoring, and training to junior staff. He/she will also be running projects managing engineering teams, determining staffing efforts, interfacing with clients, coordinating with other disciplines, etc. He/she may also oversee the entire design process or assist as a technical expert on a specialized design. Candidate may work on several concurrent projects. The Senior Mechanical Engineer must have extensive experience in all areas of mechanical design and be an expert in his/her discipline. The Senior Mechanical Engineer will work alongside other professionals to ensure deadlines are met, liaising with external stakeholders, attending meetings, using CAD software to produce detailed designs, ensuring all projects remain within budgetary and time constraints

Responsibilities:

Managerial Functions

  1. To receive project brief from Principals MEP.
  2. Assist Project Manager/Lead Engineer in working out man-hour requirement and no. of drawings for preparing fee proposal. Assist Manager (MEP) in preparing technical proposal.
  3. Interact with Team Leader/Project Manager/Project Architect to understand design intent of the project and explain the requirements. Guide and Supervise work of draftsmen
  4. Support in planning resources for execution of design work as per the schedule.
  5. Produce design concepts and validation plans to meet program, system, and component requirements.
  6. Participate in the meeting with Clients for discussion of Mechanical Works of the project
  7. Keep updated/latest codes, standards, reference books, catalogues in the departmental library.
  8. Manage all project aspects from concept through launch within the context of larger programs
  9. Coordinate with Project Manager/Lead Engineer for QA/QC for quality management, quality control, quality assurance and monitoring during the design and construction supervision.
  10. Establish and follow procedural standards for drafting and designing under consultation with Project Manager / Lead Engineer.

Operational Functions

  1. Estimate utilities requirement and write to Authorities for fire, water and sewerage connections.
  2. Produce outline and detailed specifications and MEP query list for Mechanical works to submit to client for his approval.
  3. Design of plumbing and drainage/fire protection/HVAC/services as per codes and standards.
  4. To officiate as Project Manager / Lead Engineer if instructed to do so.
  5. Impart on job training to subordinate staff and draftsmen.
  6. Design infrastructure elements of the projects in cooperation with specialists or Vendors as per projects requirements.
  7. Discuss and finalize the concept scheme for Mechanical services with Associate / Associate Director MEP/Project Manager for Clients approval. Raise query list for Clients to response for their requirements.
  8. Concept Design, Preliminary Design, Detailed Design for the projects. Preparation of tender drawings, specifications, review / preparation of Bill of Quantities.
  9. Provide information to architect about space requirement, provide information to structural engineer about equipment locations and reactions, provide information to electrical engineer about equipment locations and power requirement.
  10. Coordinate with other trades/disciplines for the project activities. Check architectural/structural/electrical drawings to ensure requirement and provisions of mechanical equipment are kept.
  11. Participate regularly in the project technical co-ordination meetings.
  12. Utilize BIM for design and automation.
  13. Attend to the site queries received from Director Construction Administration through Project Manager/Associate Director MEP.
  14. Support in planning the resources for execution of design work as per the schedule

Skills Required

  3. Proficiency in the use of AutoCAD and Revit/ Navisworks Software

Required Qualifications

  1. Min Bachelor Degree in Mechanical Engineering. Chartered is an added advantage.
  2. Any relevant certifications/ license shall be an added advantage
  3. LEED AP would be a plus

Required Experience

  1. 10+ years of experience in the field of Mechanical Engineering
