About the job Assistant Store Keeper
Job Purpose
To handle the daily physical work of receiving, moving, checking, and organizing hospital stock. This role ensures that medical supplies, surgical items, and general materials are safely stored and delivered to hospital departments without delay.
Key Responsibilities
- Receiving & Unloading: Help unload delivery trucks. Physically count boxes and check items against delivery notes to ensure everything arrives safely and without damage.
- Put-Away & Shelving: Move items to their correct shelf locations. Safely handle fragile medical supplies and organize them neatly.
- System Updates (WMS): Accurately record and update all stock movements (receiving, transferring, and issuing) directly into the Warehouse Management System (WMS).
- Stock Rotation (FEFO/FIFO): Put newer stock at the back of the shelf and move older stock to the front so items do not expire to align with system allocation.
- Order Picking & Packing: Read daily supply requests from different hospital departments (like Nursing, Pharmacy, or Emergency Department). Gather the exact items, pack them securely, and prepare them for delivery.
- Delivery Assistance: Help transport stock trolleys to different hospital floors and departments safely.
- Housekeeping & Cleaning: Keep the storeroom clean, swept, and organized every day to meet strict hospital hygiene standards.
- Stock Counting: Assist the Storekeeper in regular daily or monthly physical stock counts.
Requirements (Skills & Qualifications)
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent.
- Physical Fitness: Ability to stand for long hours, walk long distances across the hospital, and safely lift/move heavy boxes (up to 20–25 kg).
- communication Skills: Must be able to read and understand English labels, safety signs, and delivery notes, as well as speak basic English to communicate clearly with hospital staff and team members.
- Computer Skills: Basic PC literacy. Must know how to use a computer, navigate simple software interfaces, and type basic data.
- Attributes: Honest, hardworking, punctual, and good team player who understands that hospital supplies directly affect patient care.
