Summary
The Procurement / Purchasing Agent is responsible for managing the procurement process and ensuring the timely and cost-effective acquisition of goods and services for a marine logistics company. This role involves sourcing suppliers, negotiating contracts, coordinating with internal stakeholders, and maintaining inventory levels.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Develop and implement procurement strategies and policies to meet the company's operational needs and cost objectives.

Source and evaluate potential suppliers, obtaining competitive bids and proposals for goods and services.

Negotiate contracts and agreements with suppliers, ensuring favorable terms and conditions that align with the company's requirements.

Collaborate with internal departments to identify procurement needs, specifications, and quality standards.

Review purchase requisitions and determine the appropriate procurement method, such as competitive bidding or direct negotiation.

Manage the procurement process, including the preparation and issuance of purchase orders, monitoring delivery schedules, and resolving any issues or delays.

Monitor market trends and supplier performance, identifying opportunities for cost savings, quality improvement, and process efficiencies.

Maintain accurate records of procurement activities, contracts, supplier information, and pricing agreements.
.
Conduct regular supplier performance evaluations, addressing any non-compliance or quality issues.
.
Ensure compliance with relevant laws, regulations, and company policies in procurement activities.
.
Manage and maintain inventory levels, monitoring stock availability, and coordinating with suppliers for timely replenishment.

Develop and maintain strong relationships with suppliers, promoting open communication and collaboration.
.
Identify and implement procurement best practices, leveraging technology and process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy.
.
Stay updated with industry trends, market conditions, and emerging procurement practices.

Provide reports and analysis on procurement activities, including spend analysis, cost savings, and supplier performance metrics.
Support cross-functional teams and projects, collaborating with stakeholders to achieve procurement goals and objectives.
Train and mentor junior procurement staff, providing guidance and support as needed.
Qualifications & Experience
.
Bachelor's degree in business, supply chain management, or a related field. Additional certification in procurement or supply chain management is a plus.

Proven experience in procurement or purchasing roles, preferably in the maritime or logistics industry.

Strong knowledge of procurement principles, practices, and processes.

Familiarity with sourcing strategies, supplier evaluation, and negotiation techniques.

Excellent understanding of contractual terms, pricing models, and legal requirements in procurement.

Proficient in using procurement software and systems for sourcing, purchasing, and contract management.
.
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data and make informed decisions.

Excellent negotiation and communication skills, with the ability to build and maintain relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders.

Detail-oriented and highly organized, with the ability to manage multiple procurement projects simultaneously.

Proficient in using MS Office applications and other relevant computer software.

Knowledge of customs procedures and import/export regulations is desirable.

Fluent in English, both written and spoken. Knowledge of Arabic is highly desirable. Language Skills
