About the job CSSD Technician

The CSSD Technician is responsible for the cleaning, decontamination, inspection, sterilization, and distribution of medical instruments and equipment in accordance with hospital policies and infection control standards. The role ensures all surgical instruments and medical supplies are sterile, safe, and ready for use.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Receive, sort, and decontaminate used medical instruments and equipment.
  • Perform manual and automated cleaning procedures.
  • Inspect instruments for cleanliness, damage, and functionality.
  • Assemble and pack instrument trays according to hospital standards.
  • Operate sterilization equipment (autoclaves, ETO, plasma sterilizers, etc.).
  • Monitor and document sterilization cycles and parameters.
  • Label, store, and distribute sterile items appropriately.
  • Maintain accurate records of sterilization processes and inventory.
  • Follow infection control policies and safety regulations.
  • Report equipment malfunctions or damaged instruments to the supervisor.
  • Ensure proper stock levels of sterile supplies.

Qualifications & Requirements:

  • Diploma or certification in CSSD or Sterilization Technology.
  • Previous experience in a hospital CSSD department is preferred.
  • Knowledge of sterilization methods and infection control standards.
  • Ability to operate sterilization machinery.
  • Attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and tracking systems.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced healthcare environment.
