JOB SUMMARY

Transporting guest luggage to/from guest rooms. Escort guests to rooms and inform guests of all hotel services and features. Responsible for attending to immediate needs of each guest upon arrival and follow through attention throughout stay. Thorough knowledge of all hotel services and amenities. Provide up to date visitors information, weather, place of interest, leisure activities, dining and entertainment options in Bahrain. Assist on the Front Drive.

RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary responsibilities of the role include:

  • Maintain complete knowledge of:
    • All hotel features/services, hours of operation.
    • All hotel restaurant food concepts, menu price range, dress code and ambiance.
    • All hotel room types, numbers/names, layout, appointments, amenities and locations.
    • All hotel room rates, special packages and promotions.
    • Daily house count and expected arrivals/departures (particularly V.I.P.'s).
    • Scheduled daily group activities, names and location of meeting/banquet rooms.
    • Local events, attractions, holiday schedules.
  • Maintain complete knowledge and comply with all hotel and departmental policies and procedures.
  • Transport guest luggage from the point of arrival at the hotel to their assigned room.
  • Transport guest luggage from current room to reassigned room for room changes.
  • Transport guest luggage from their room to the point of departure from the hotel.
  • Assist in locating guest's lost luggage.
  • Correctly tag, store and retrieve luggage from holding room.
  • Identify and explain hotel facilities and features to guests while escorting them to their room.
  • Identify fire exit closest to guest's room and explain safety features of assigned room.
  • Demonstrate use of room key to guests.
  • Place guest luggage inside room.
  • Identify and explain guest room features to include use of:
    • air conditioning/heat units and thermostat controls
    • telephone
    • television
    • clock/alarm radio
    • guest services directory
    • honor bar
    • coffee maker
    • in room safe

  • Offer packing/unpacking service, pressing and laundry service.
  • Offer to fill ice bucket
  • Maintain accurate knowledge of scheduled functions within the hotel to direct guests to correct locations.
  • Maintain accurate knowledge of local attractions and activities to recommend for guest inquiries.
  • Relay accurate directions to guests on inquiries of transportation within the local area.
  • Maintain accurate log record of guest calls for Bell Person assistance.
  • Answer Bellstand telephone within 3 rings using correct greeting and telephone etiquette.
  • Handle guest complaints by following the instant pacification procedures and ensuring guest satisfaction.
  • Remain in assigned post position, maintaining correct stance.
  • Retrieve guest dry cleaning/laundry from their rooms and deliver to Housekeeping.
  • Deliver items to guest rooms promptly to include:
    • messages
    • mail, faxes, faxes
    • packages
    • flowers
    • sundry items requested by guest
    • gift items
  • Deliver daily newspaper by 06:00a.m. to specified guest rooms.
  • Monitor and maintain appearance of lobby areas and luggage holding room.
  • Polish brass luggage carts and maintain cleanliness of carts.
  • Ensure confidentiality of hotel guests and security of guest room access.
  • Provide shoe shine service
  • Provide guest room tours.
  • Assist with unloading and loading of vehicles.
  • Assist with parking and retrieving vehicles, security of vehicle keys and accurate recording on vehicle claim tickets.
  • Assist Concierge staff with guest requests and services
  • Successful completion of the training/certification process


PROFILE

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Valid drivers' license.
  • Excellent driving record.
  • Ability to drive all vehicle types.
  • Ability to drive standard and manual transmission.
  • Ability to satisfactorily communicate in English with guests/ visitors, management and co-workers to their understanding.
  • Ability to provide legible communication and directions.

Desirable:

  • Fluency in English.
  • High school graduate.
  • Any foreign language.
  • Knowledge of vehicle mechanics.
  • Experience in hospitality industry in similar position.
  • Previous position where driving skills were exercised.
