We are currently seeking a dedicated and experienced Optometrist to join our thriving ophthalmic practice in Dayton, Texas. The ideal candidate will be a licensed Optometrist in the state of Texas with a passion for providing exceptional eye care services. This position requires a deep understanding of various eye conditions and vision defects, along with hands-on experience using eye examination tools such as the ophthalmoscope and tonometer. The successful candidate will have the ability to explain complex medical terms in a clear and compassionate manner. Responsibilities:

  1. Comprehensive Eye Examinations:

    • Perform comprehensive eye examinations to assess visual acuity, prescribe corrective lenses, and detect any abnormalities or eye conditions.
    • Utilize advanced diagnostic tools and equipment to evaluate eye health and diagnose vision disorders.
  2. Treatment Planning and Referrals:

    • Develop individualized treatment plans based on examination findings, patient history, and visual needs.
    • Refer patients to specialists, such as ophthalmologists, for further evaluation and management of complex eye conditions.
  3. Patient Education:

    • Educate patients on eye health, preventive care measures, and treatment options in a clear and understandable manner.
    • Provide guidance on proper eyewear selection, contact lens care, and lifestyle modifications to improve overall eye health.
  4. Record Keeping and Documentation:

    • Maintain accurate and detailed electronic medical records (EMR) of patient examinations, diagnoses, and treatment plans.
    • Document patient interactions, test results, and prescribed medications or treatments according to established protocols.
  5. Collaboration and Communication:

    • Collaborate with other members of the healthcare team, including ophthalmologists, opticians, and primary care providers, to coordinate patient care and ensure continuity of treatment.
    • Communicate effectively with patients, colleagues, and support staff to ensure a positive patient experience and optimal outcomes.

Qualifications:

  • Doctor of Optometry (OD) degree from an accredited optometry program.
  • Current license to practice optometry in the state of Texas.
  • Proven work experience as an Optometrist, with a strong understanding of eye conditions and vision defects.
  • Proficiency in using eye examination tools, including the ophthalmoscope and tonometer.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to explain medical terms simply and calmly to patients.
  • Ability to reliably commute to Dayton, Texas, or willingness to relocate to the area.
