Position Title: Medical Assistant - Dermatology Practice

Overview:

We are seeking a skilled and compassionate Medical Assistant to join our esteemed dermatology practice. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing exceptional patient care and assisting dermatologists in various clinical and administrative tasks. This role requires a strong understanding of dermatological procedures, patient interaction, and medical office management.

Responsibilities:

Patient Care:

Escort patients to examination rooms and prepare them for procedures.

Obtain patient medical history, including current medications and allergies.

Assist dermatologists during examinations, surgeries, and cosmetic procedures.

Provide patient education on skincare routines, treatment plans, and post-procedure care.

Perform basic dermatological procedures under the supervision of a dermatologist, including but not limited to wound care, suture removal, and lesion biopsies.

Administer prescribed medications and injections as directed by the dermatologist.

Ensure patient confidentiality and comfort throughout their visit.

Clinical Support:

Prepare and maintain examination rooms, ensuring cleanliness and organization.

Sterilize medical instruments and equipment according to established protocols.

Assist in inventory management, ordering medical supplies, and maintaining stock levels.

Document patient information, procedures, and treatments accurately in electronic health records (EHR) systems.

Coordinate patient referrals to specialists and follow-up appointments as needed.

Administrative Duties:

Greet patients upon arrival and assist with check-in procedures.

Schedule appointments, answer phone calls, and respond to patient inquiries promptly and professionally.

Verify patient insurance coverage and collect payments for services rendered.

Complete and submit insurance claims and prior authorizations as required.

Maintain confidentiality of patient records and adhere to HIPAA regulations.

Assist with other administrative tasks as assigned by practice management.

Qualifications:

High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a medical assistant program preferred.

Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA) or Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) preferred.

Minimum of 1-2 years of experience working in a medical office or dermatology practice.

Proficiency in electronic health records (EHR) systems and medical office software.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with patients, physicians, and colleagues.

Knowledge of dermatological procedures, terminology, and medical terminology.

Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail.

Ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment while maintaining professionalism and efficiency.
