The Role

As a Senior Electrical Consultant, you will project manage our forensic investigations related to the condition assessment and failure analysis of LV, MV and HV power systems plant. 

Overseeing the project lifespan, you will manage planning, evidence collation, reporting and project clean up. 

You will be expected to have a hands on, practical approach to the projects, being able to dismantle and inspect the plant being investigated as well as working alongside the technical engineering staff. 

You will undertake a range of condition assessments and failure analyses on different plant, including; transformers, switchgear, cable systems, overhead line systems, etc.As a Senior Consultant you will provide technical advice across the Forensics and larger Analytical team during investigative projects. 

You will drive continuous improvement by sharing knowledge, best practice and learning to ensure quality delivery for the customer.

The role will involve operating within the company procedures and policies as well as operating in accordance with health and safety requirements.

About You

To be considered as a Senior Electrical Consultant, you will need:

- A minimum of 10 years industrial experience

- A good general knowledge of power systems plant and its operation

- A detailed knowledge of the construction and functionality of at least one family of high voltage plant, e.g. cables, switchgear, etc.

- Knowledge of the factors which commonly influence ageing, degradation and failure of plant, e.g. electrical & magnetic field distributions, partial discharge, surge conditions, fault conditions, temperature distributions & environmental factors.

- Knowledge of how to separate the observations following failure from the root cause- The ability to undertake investigations that allow like for like comparisons of findings

- The ability to identify and mitigate risks in the handling of chemicals, materials and plant

- The ability to project manage technical investigations including reporting- Excellent stakeholder relationship management skills

- A minimum of a degree level qualification in Electrical Engineering (or equivalent)

- Be working towards or have achieved professional registration status in a relevant technical institution

- Ideally, you will have experience within an industry related OEM or an electrical utility organisation.
