Hardware & Firmware Engineer

We are currently recruiting for a leading company in the technology and retail sector. We are looking for a Hardware & Firmware Engineer to join an innovative, fast-growing project based in Oporto.

Key Responsibilities:

• Own the end-to-end Hardware & Firmware architecture, defining system design, power strategy, component selection, and platform scalability;

• Lead electronic design and embedded firmware development, ensuring robust PCB design, optimized energy consumption, and stable low-level software architecture;

• Guarantee full system integration across sensors, controllers, communication modules, and software layers, aligning electronics with mechanical and product requirements;

• Enable connected capabilities, including remote monitoring, telemetry, diagnostics, and OTA updates through stable hardware–software interfaces;

• Drive testing, validation, and industrialization, ensuring reliability, thermal and electrical robustness, and scalability for series production;

• Provide technical leadership and roadmap ownership, setting standards, making critical trade-off decisions, and acting as the technical authority for the companys electronic platform.

Requirements:

• Solid experience in electronic hardware development, with strong expertise in complex system architecture and industrial environments;

• Proven PCB design expertise, including schematic capture, layout, component selection, and EMI/EMC best practices;

• Strong embedded firmware experience, including low-level driver development, interrupt management, peripheral control, and microcontroller-based system architecture;

• Demonstrated experience integrating multiple sensors and peripherals, with solid understanding of power management and energy optimization;

• Experience defining hardware–firmware–software interfaces, including communication protocols and connected/IoT systems;

• Strong analytical skills and ability to manage multiple priorities;

• Fluency in English.
