The Position

The role of Country Manager China Business Development, carries strategic responsibility for driving our client's business development activities and advancing its long-term growth agenda in the Chinese market. At its core, the position translates global priorities into locally relevant strategies and impactful execution.

This executive-level role serves as a key interface between Group Headquarters in Munich, the regional Asia organization, and the operational entities in China, as well as with key political and regulatory stakeholders in the Chinese market.

A defining feature of the role is its complex stakeholder and relationship management scope both within the Group at global and regional levels, and externally with key decision-makers, political institutions, regulatory bodies, and supporters in the Chinese market.

Working Location

The role is based in Munich and requires willingness to relocate to Germany. 

Requirements

  • At least ten years of relevant professional experience in the insurance or financial services industry, ideally with a focus on distribution, product or market management, M&A and strategic partnerships
  • In-depth knowledge of the Chinese insurance market, combined with a strong personal network of relevant market players, partners, stakeholders and institutions
  • Candidates must bring deep familiarity with the mainland China market; exposure limited to Hong Kong or overseas Chinese networks is not sufficient
  • Experience working in international matrix organizations, with a proven ability to align with global and regional steering units
  • Fluent in Mandarin and English; German language skills are not required
  • University degree in Business Administration, Economics, or a comparable discipline
