Kai Tak Sports Park is a Design, Build and Operate project funded by the Hong Kong SAR Government. Opened in 2025, it is Hong Kong's first multi-purpose sports, entertainment and leisure precinct, providing world-class venues and facilities for major events and community enjoyment. Kai Tak Sports Park Ltd (KTSPL) has been awarded the contract to undertake this project. Legends Global (LG), through its subsidiary company in Hong Kong, SMG China, has been engaged by KTSPL to be the Operator of Kai Tak Sports Park (KTSP).

Role Introduction

The Legal Counsel serves as the principal legal advisor for Legends Global at the Kai Tak Sports Park, providing strategic legal guidance across all aspects of business operations. This role includes drafting and negotiating commercial contracts from a legal perspective, ensuring compliance with the Design, Build, and Operate agreement with the Government, and overseeing regulatory adherence. Additionally, it involves managing intellectual property, coordinating with external counsel, and delivering company secretariat services. The ideal candidate will proactively identify legal risks, support cross-functional teams, and uphold the legal integrity of the organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Legal Advisory: Serve as legal advisor and provide legal support to directors and executives of the management team on all legal matters in relation to business and operation of Kai Tak Sports Park, ensuring compliance with Hong Kong laws and regulations.
  • Contract Management: Draft, review, and solidify contracts related to, commercial, operational, and technical aspects of the business, including agreements with hirers, service providers, subcontractors and suppliers Including the formulation and negotiation of commercial contracts from legal perspective;
  • Compliance Oversight: Have thorough understanding of the Design, Build and Operate Contract with the Government and ensure adherence to the Management Agreement, monitoring compliance with its terms and conditions.
  • Risk Management: Identify potential legal risks and liabilities associated with park operations and develop strategies to mitigate these risks.
  • Regulatory Compliance: Ensure that all operations comply with relevant Hong Kong laws, including safety regulations, licensing regulations, environmental laws, and labor laws.
  • Dispute Resolution: Manage and resolve any legal disputes that may arise, including negotiations and liaising with external legal counsel when necessary.
  • Intellectual Property Management: Oversee the protection and management of intellectual property rights related to the parks branding, trademarks, and other proprietary assets under Hong Kong law.
  • Corporate Governance: Provide support for corporate governance matters, including managing company secretariat services and ensuring compliance with relevant corporate laws in Hong Kong.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with various departments of both KTSPL and Legends Global (e.g., finance, commercial, operations, HR) to provide legal support and ensure alignment with business objectives.
  • Training and Awareness: Conduct training sessions for staff on legal compliance and risk management to foster a culture of legal awareness within the organization.
  • Management: Carry out any other tasks as assigned by management.

Requirements

  • Degree in Law and relevant disciplines;
  • A professional qualification in law gained from a jurisdiction under Common Law;
  • A minimum of 5 years of relevant work experience, preferably in a corporate environment;
  • Concrete understanding of contract and corporate law, intellectual property and business transactional principles;
  • Experience in venue management business is a plus but not strictly necessary;
  • Ability to carry out tasks independently;
  • Strong interpersonal skills including ability to communicate effectively with different parties.
  • Sound judgment and decision-making skills;
  • High level of personal integrity and professional ethics; and
  • Flexible and adaptable to changing business conditions.
