Role Introduction

The Engineer - Control shall review the design and programming of the complete Building Automation System including integration to other low voltage control sub‐systems, and responsible for the operation and management of the controls systems to ensure the systems meet the operational needs and maintain their optimal performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design review of system configuration for technically complex Building Automation Systems as defined by the contract documents. Create flow diagrams, sequence of operations, bill of material, network layouts and electrical schematics as required.
  • Design review of system panel layouts, network layouts, wiring diagrams to confirm compliance with current best practice and industry standards.
  • Review the selected material including DDC modules, field sensing and control devices, dampers and valves to meet the project requirements, specifications, codes and industry standards.
  • Review the programming of systems to confirm correct sequencing for the operational requirements.
  • Review of program and configure integration between multiple systems, using open and proprietary software.
  • Oversight of the Integrated Operations Centre and system database for reporting, alarming and monitoring of Building Automation Systems.
  • Ensure all plant and equipment is tested and maintained at the correct intervals recommended by the manufacturers and in line with industry standards.
  • Determine work procedures, prepare work schedules, and examine work for completeness and quality. Organize scheduling to achieve greatest efficiency while maintaining event deadlines.
  • The scheduling of staff to meet venue requirements, issuing of work instructions, prioritizing and delegation of workload.
  • Operation and management of the controls systems installed at KTSP.
  • Close monitoring of all BAS during the DLP.
  • Alarm monitoring and initial investigation.
  • Liaison with specialist service providers.
  • Develop energy conservation program to help reduce energy consumption in a sustainable way.
  • Attend events as required.
  • Work extended and/or irregular hours including nights, weekends, and holidays, as needed.
  • Performa any other duties as assigned by Supervisor(s).

Requirements

  • Higher Diploma or 4‐year technical degree and/or industry related engineering including HVAC Systems, DDC Systems, and software.
  • Knowledgeable in DDC applications pertaining to the HVAC/control industry.
  • Ideally with a good working knowledge of siemens building management system and associated systems integration.
  • Skilled in use of personal computer software Microsoft Office, Microsoft Visio or the equivalent.
  • Knowledgeable in PC networking, database development and advanced PC functions.
  • Ability to visit job construction hard hat areas and climb stairs, maneuver in and around pipework and air ducts and work safely in close proximity to exposed line voltage and low voltage wiring and terminations.
  • Possess valid state motor vehicle license and possess safe driving record as required by company's insurance carrier.
  • Experience with BACnet and Niagara based products is preferred.
