PSV Mechanic / Coach & Heavy-Vehicle Technician
Up to £51,000 per annum DOE

About the Role

As PSV Mechanic, youll be responsible for the maintenance, servicing, and repair of high-specification coaches and Chauffeured Mercedes Cars ensuring every vehicle is safe, road-worthy, and maintained to the companys elevated standards. Youll handle diagnostics, routine servicing, fault-finding, brake/clutch/engine work/ Safety inspections and general upkeep of the fleet. Precision, reliability and a thorough approach is essential

Our Client is a long standing, family owned coach and private hire operator based in St Helens with decades of history (founded in the 1920s).
Our clients run a premium fleet including luxury coaches fitted with high-end interiors, modern amenities (leather seats, comfort fittings, entertainment systems) and frequently serves high-profile clients including sports teams and corporate customers
As part of their maintenance team, you wont be working on ordinary minibuses: these are well-maintained, high-spec vehicles where attention to detail matters.

Working Hours

  • Monday to Friday, 08:00 17:00 (standard weekday schedule)

  • (Flexible overtime, Additional on Call Rota required with pay advancement.

Key Duties

  • Perform full servicing, maintenance, and repairs on PSV / coach fleet. Engines, brakes, clutches, electrical systems, suspension, PMI inspections and more.

  • Conduct diagnostics and fault-finding, ensuring issues are identified and fixed to high quality standards

  • Maintain compliance with safety, regulatory, and maintenance standards (including any PSV / DVA requirements)

  • Keep accurate service records and paperwork for each vehicle

  • Work with care to preserve high-spec interiors and coach standards

  • Coordinate with workshop and operations teams to prioritise maintenance and manage workloads

  • Occasionally be available for overtime or on-call, depending on fleet scheduling and maintenance needs

Key Requirements

  • Proven experience as a heavy-vehicle or PSV / coach mechanic / technician (several years ideally)

  • PSV License and Irtec Inspector License ( Ideal or able to train for)

  • Strong mechanical knowledge across engines, brakes, transmission, electrics (including familiarity with common PSV coach systems a bonus)

  • Level 3 NVQ or City & Guilds qualification in Heavy Vehicle Maintenance and Repair, or an equivalent. .

  • Good awareness of safety standards, regulations, and paperwork compliance (maintenance logs, checks, regulatory requirements)

Flexibility, reliability and readiness to respond to maintenance needs sometimes under pressure
