Were on the lookout for a practice accountant who knows their way around a set of year-end accounts and genuinely enjoys working with SME clients. If you're someone who takes pride in accuracy but doesnt want to spend your days in silence or buried under red tapekeep reading.

This is a role for someone whos comfortable taking ownership of their workload, happy in a team, and enjoys building proper relationships with the clients they support. Youll be joining a progressive firm with a modern mindset, where things are done properly but without the stiff upper lip of old-school accountancy.

About the role:

Youll be handling your own portfolio of small-to-medium-sized businesses, preparing accounts, VAT returns, and tax computations, as well as offering general advice and guidance along the way. You'll work closely with the wider team of accountants and support staff, bouncing ideas around and helping to make sure clients are getting the best service possible.

Working hours:

  • Monday: 9:00am 5:00pm

  • Tuesday to Thursday: 8:45am 5:00pm

  • Friday: 8:45am4:00pm

Key duties:

  • Preparing year-end accounts for limited companies, partnerships, and sole traders

  • Completing VAT reviews and offering VAT and bookkeeping support

  • Supporting with tax computations and planning

  • Liaising directly with clients, building solid working relationships

  • Using cloud accounting tools such as Xero and QuickBooks

  • Assisting junior team members when needed

Key requirements:

  • Previous experience working in an accountancy practice

  • Comfortable managing a portfolio of clients across different sectors

  • Good knowledge of cloud-based systems

  • AAT level 4 qualified or equivalent experience

  • Able to work independently but happy to be part of a collaborative team
