About the role:
The General Accountant plays a key role in ensuring the accuracy, completeness, and compliance of accounting records in accordance with VAS, US GAAP, and statutory requirements. This position requires strong hands-on capability across the full accounting cycle and the ability to work independently to manage assigned responsibilities.
The role is also expected to supervise and review the work of other team members when necessary, ensuring continuity of operations and compliance with regulatory requirements.
This role is established as a fixed-term position to support accounting operations during a maternity leave period. Depending on business needs and individual performance, there may be an opportunity to convert to a permanent position.
Core Responsibilities:
As a General Accountant, your mission includes but not limited to:
Independently perform and oversee full-cycle accounting, including AP, AR, GL, and FA, ensuring transactions are recorded accurately and timely in compliance with VAS, US GAAP, and company policies.
Prepare and maintain accounting schedules (FA, accruals, prepayments, tax, operating lease) and perform monthly reconciliations, including bank, tax, and balance sheet accounts.
Support monthly, quarterly, and yearly closing processes and prepare management reports and statutory FS in accordance with VAS.
Handle Vietnam tax compliance, including preparation and review of VAT, CIT, PIT, FCT, and coordinate with tax consultants and authorities when required.
Prepare schedules and supporting documents for external audit and tax inspections, ensuring proper documentation and regulatory compliance.
Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls, ensuring compliance with company policies.
- Work independently with minimal supervision and review or supervise work performed by other team members when required, ensuring timely and accurate completion of tasks.
Job Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree in accounting or finance, ACCA is a plus.
Minimum 5–7 years of accounting experience, preferably in an MNC environment. Strong knowledge of VAS and hands-on experience in full-cycle accounting (AP, AR, GL, FA) are required.
Solid experience handling Vietnam tax compliance, including VAT, CIT, PIT, and FCT. Experience preparing VAS FS, supporting external audits, and working with tax authorities is required.
Proven ability to work independently with strong ownership. Ability to review or supervise other team members when required is preferred.
Strong attention to detail and good organizational skills. Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines.
Proficient in Excel and familiar with accounting systems (e.g., NetSuite or similar). Knowledge of US GAAP or Saas is a plus.
Good command of English, both written and spoken.
