Position: Engineering & Maintenance Manager

Role Overview

We are seeking an experienced Engineering & Maintenance Manager to lead electrical, mechanical, utilities, maintenance, and engineering project activities within a manufacturing facility.

The role will be responsible for maximizing equipment uptime, minimizing engineering-related downtime, controlling maintenance and energy costs, and ensuring compliance with cGMP, safety, regulatory, and statutory requirements. The position will also lead engineering improvement, automation, capacity expansion, and facility projects from planning through completion.

Key Responsibilities

Engineering & Maintenance

  • Lead preventive and corrective maintenance for electrical, mechanical, utilities, HCM, and production equipment.
  • Drive downtime reduction and maximize equipment availability and operational efficiency.
  • Monitor breakdowns, root cause analysis, CAPA, and corrective actions for recurring failures.
  • Ensure availability and proper management of critical spare parts, consumables, and maintenance resources.
  • Ensure maintenance, calibration, and validation activities are completed according to plan.

Projects & Engineering Improvement

  • Lead capacity expansion, facility improvement, automation, and engineering projects from concept through completion.
  • Manage project schedules, budgets, specifications, vendors, and project quality.
  • Drive automation and advanced technology initiatives to improve productivity, process synchronization, and energy efficiency.
  • Ensure proper equipment qualification and validation, including DQ, IQ, OQ, and PQ where applicable.
  • Support cross-functional projects and manufacturing improvement initiatives.

Utilities & Facility Management

  • Oversee utilities and engineering systems to ensure reliable plant operations.
  • Ensure effective operation of the ETP in compliance with legal and statutory requirements.
  • Monitor civil and facility projects and ensure delivery according to approved specifications and timelines.

Cost & Energy Optimization

  • Manage engineering budgets covering energy, maintenance, repair, spare parts, and consumables.
  • Identify and implement energy-saving and cost-reduction initiatives.
  • Develop alternative vendors and optimize procurement costs while mitigating supply and operational risks.

Compliance & Quality

  • Ensure compliance with cGMP, safety regulations, statutory requirements, TPM, and applicable quality standards.
  • Maintain engineering documentation, maintenance records, calibration records, and project documentation.
  • Ensure equipment and engineering systems meet required quality and regulatory standards.

Performance Management & Reporting

  • Review key engineering and maintenance KPIs, including downtime, PM compliance, spare-part consumption, CAPA, repeated failures, energy consumption, and ETP performance.
  • Prepare and analyze MIS reports to identify operational risks and improvement opportunities.
  • Drive continuous improvement based on engineering performance data.

People Leadership

  • Lead, coach, and develop the engineering and maintenance team.
  • Build internal technical capabilities and develop talent for future leadership roles.
  • Establish a performance-driven culture through regular performance reviews, coaching, and feedback.
  • Drive employee engagement and cross-functional collaboration.

External: Customers, Engineering Consultants, Contractors, Equipment Suppliers, and Vendors.

Qualifications & Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Mechatronics, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Strong experience in engineering, maintenance, utilities, and manufacturing operations.
  • Experience managing electrical and mechanical maintenance in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience leading CAPEX, automation, capacity expansion, and facility improvement projects.
  • Strong knowledge of preventive maintenance, root cause analysis, CAPA, calibration, and equipment validation.
  • Experience in pharmaceutical / regulated manufacturing and cGMP is highly preferred.
  • Strong understanding of energy management and maintenance cost optimization.
  • Excellent leadership, project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
