Job Summary
We are seeking a Project Manager II to join our Nuclear Project teams. This position will manage projects and programs typically under $10 million, including planning, scheduling, and control of activities. The Project Manager will independently lead complex, multidiscipline projects and project teams with more than ten people, requiring strong leadership, organization, and communication skills.
This role includes oversight of project activities for refueling outages, forced outages, and on-line work, and requires proficiency in project management processes, risk mitigation, resource coordination, vendor engagement, and budget control. Candidates must demonstrate strong capability in directing and mentoring team members and managing competing priorities across a broad range of stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage project activities for refueling outages, forced outages, and on-line work.
- Lead project planning, control, and execution ensuring safety, quality, schedule, and budget adherence.
- Oversee all aspects of project implementation including budget development, work package preparation, procurement, ALARA planning, clearance orders, resource loading, and risk management.
- Track and manage project cost versus budget.
- Interface with clients, engineers, vendors, and stakeholders to maintain project focus.
- Develop and manage project contracts and schedules.
- Prepare and deliver written and oral communications to various groups including senior management.
- Develop and maintain long-range plans for assigned projects.
- Support outage activities including Outage Control Center (OCC) participation.
- Mentor and coach other project managers and act on behalf of supervisors when required.
- Monitor and recommend improvements to project management processes and procedures.
Qualifications & Skills
MUST HAVE NUCLEAR PROJECT EXPERIENCE
Required Education and Experience
Candidates must meet one of the following qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in engineering, construction management, project management, business, or related field from an accredited college or university AND fourteen years of experience in a technical field.
- Associate degree AND sixteen years of experience in a technical field.
- High school diploma or GED AND eighteen years of experience in a technical field.
- An advanced degree in a related field may be accepted in lieu of two years of experience.
Active Project Management Professional (PMP) Certification is required.
Required Abilities and Skills
Candidates must demonstrate the following:
- Advanced project management techniques for commercial nuclear power plants or similar facilities.
- Experience with complex projects and outage-related activities.
- Familiarity with error reduction, human performance improvement, and cost-effective execution.
- Strong leadership and supervisory experience.
- Skilled in Microsoft Office and other project-related software tools.
Desired Education and Certifications
- Advanced degree in a related field of study or business.
- Construction Management Certification.
- RO/SRO License or site-specific Management Certification.
Desired Abilities and Skills
- Supervisory experience and cross-functional leadership.
- Participation in industry committees, audits, or assessments.
- Familiarity with project management software and budget tools.
- Knowledge of regulatory requirements and processes related to operations, maintenance, engineering, and construction.
- Diverse assignment experience across functions or industries.
- Experience managing performance, costs, and procedures in a regulated or industrial environment.
