Job Summary
We are seeking Mechanical Planners to join our Nuclear Project teams. In this role, you will be responsible for planning and preparing mechanical work packages for large- and small-scale nuclear projects. The ideal candidate will possess strong mechanical acumen, field experience, and an in-depth understanding of nuclear power plant work management processes. This role ensures all mechanical work is executed safely, reliably, and in compliance with applicable regulations and technical standards.

Key Responsibilities
- Plan and prepare work instructions for mechanical and contract maintenance organizations.

Select and approve procurement of materials needed for work package execution.

Conduct field walkdowns to analyze maintenance, modification, and surveillance activities to ensure quality work planning and execution readiness.

Collaborate with Work Management, Supply, Operations, and Engineering to resolve work package issues.

Define procedures, drawings, tools, equipment, and materials required for planned mechanical work packages.

Facilitate package development by coordinating safety and regulatory documentation such as:

Out-of-Service (OOS) requests

Radiation Work Permits (RWPs)

Welding/grinding permits
-
Fire impairments
-
Operability impact statements
-
ALARA planning documentation
-
Freeze seals and leak repair documentation
-
Quality hold/witness points
-

Review and revise maintenance procedures to support technical accuracy and regulatory compliance.

Provide oversight of system planners or contractor support personnel in mechanical work package preparation.

Actively participate in planning meetings, contract requisition reviews, clearance order discussions, troubleshooting sessions, and system interaction reviews
- Ensure work packages comply with applicable standards including NSPs, NSWPs, ASME Code, and 10CFR50.59 requirements.
Qualifications & Skills
*MUST HAVE NUCLEAR PROJECT EXPERIENCE*
Required Education and Experience
Candidates must meet one of the following qualifications:
- Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university and a minimum of six years of experience in a technical area (e.g., maintenance, engineering, operations, or maintenance planning).
- Associates degree from an accredited college or university and eight years of experience in a technical area.
- High school diploma or GED with technical training or education equivalent to an in-grade apprenticeship program in maintenance-related work and six years of experience in a technical area.
- High school diploma or GED and ten years of experience in a technical area.
Required Abilities and Skills
Candidates must demonstrate the following:
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Strong computer proficiency
- Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical problems
- Ability to obtain Planner I qualification
