We are excited to be recruiting for a Director of Cost Management to join a dynamic and client focused organisation in Dublin who are going through growth.
The role will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of cost management and control within construction projects. This role involves developing and implementing cost control strategies, monitoring project budgets, analysing cost data, and providing guidance to project teams to ensure projects are completed on time and within budget.
The Role
- Manage and lead the cost management team, ensuring that all projects are delivered within budget and to the highest standards.
- Identify new business opportunities with existing and new clients.
- Collaborate with project stakeholders to establish project budgets and cost estimates.
- Prepare detailed cost plans and forecasts, considering all project phases and components.
- Develop and implement cost control strategies to track and manage project expenditures.
- Identify potential cost overruns and recommend corrective actions.
- Regularly review and analyse project cost data, identifying trends and deviations from budget.
- Evaluate construction contracts and agreements to ensure cost control provisions are in place.
- Monitor contract variations and change orders to assess their impact on project costs.
- Provide input on cost estimation during the project bidding and proposal process.
- Identify potential financial risks and uncertainties that may affect project costs.
- Develop risk mitigation plans in collaboration with the project team.
- Implement process improvements to enhance cost management efficiency.
- Play a key role in advising, mentoring and developing capabilities within the team.
The Person
- Degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management or equivalent.
- 20+ years of experience in cost management and control.
- Strong knowledge of construction cost estimation, budgeting, and cost control principles.
- Demonstrable track record of winning new work from new clients & repeat work from existing clients.
- Leadership and team management experience.
- Client focused and proven client relationship management skills.
- Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
