CNC Machinist

 Job Description:

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled CNC Machinist to set up, operate, and maintain CNC equipment to produce high-quality precision components. The ideal candidate has strong machining fundamentals, understands blueprints and tolerances, and takes pride in producing accurate, repeatable parts in a safe and efficient manner.

This role plays a key part in maintaining production schedules, quality standards, and continuous improvement initiatives within the manufacturing environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate CNC mills and/or lathes to produce precision parts

  • Interpret engineering drawings, blueprints, and GD&T specifications

  • Select and install appropriate tooling, fixtures, and work-holding devices

  • Perform first-piece inspections and in-process quality checks

  • Adjust machine offsets and make program edits as needed to maintain tolerances

  • Monitor machine performance and troubleshoot issues to minimize downtime

  • Maintain clean and organized work areas in accordance with safety standards

  • Document production activity and inspection results accurately

  • Collaborate with engineers and supervisors to improve machining processes

  • Follow all company safety procedures and quality requirements

Qualifications

Required

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications

  • Working knowledge of precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, etc.)

  • Understanding of machining tolerances and surface finish requirements

  • Experience with basic program edits at the machine (G-code familiarity preferred)

  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality

Preferred

  • Experience with multi-axis machining (4-axis / 5-axis)

  • Familiarity with CAM software

  • Experience in high-precision industries (medical device, aerospace, defense, etc.)

  • Knowledge of Lean manufacturing or continuous improvement practices

Work Environment

  • Manufacturing floor setting

  • Standing for extended periods

  • Lifting materials up to 25 lbs

  • Exposure to machining fluids and industrial equipment
