Demolition & Abatement – Project Manager
About the Role
A well-established contractor is looking for a seasoned Project Manager to oversee demolition and environmental abatement operations from kickoff through closeout. This position encompasses the management of both structural/interior teardown scopes and hazardous material mitigation work.
The right candidate will have a proven track record of leading projects, juggling multiple active job sites, and a firm command of construction documentation, financial oversight, and field-level coordination.
Key Responsibilities
- Collaborate with preconstruction personnel to assist in subcontractor selection and supplier procurement
- Thoroughly review contract documents, project drawings, and technical specifications to establish a complete understanding of each scope
- Facilitate and attend project meetings involving owners, general contractors, trade partners, and internal teams
- Oversee the submittal process, including preparation, distribution, and tracking through approval
- Generate and submit monthly pay applications along with project status updates
- Partner with the finance team to review, validate, and approve subcontractor and vendor invoices
- Build and manage detailed project schedules using scheduling software, maintaining adherence to key milestones
- Serve as the point of accountability for site safety, ensuring all work aligns with regulatory requirements and internal standards
- Track project financials including budgets, costs, and forecasting throughout each job's duration
Field Coordination & Project Delivery
- Maintain close working relationships with field supervisors and trade contractors to uphold quality and safety standards
- Handle RFIs, change order management, subcontracts, and purchase order administration
- Perform regular site visits to evaluate progress, troubleshoot challenges, and keep work on track
- Act as a resource and mentor for less experienced team members and field staff
- Ensure all project activities remain in full compliance with applicable local, state, and federal demolition and abatement regulations
Software & Technology
Familiarity with the following tools is a plus:
- MS Project
- Primavera P6
- Procore
- Sage 300 (Construction)
- Bluebeam Revu
- Microsoft Office Suite
What You'll Need
Required:
- 5+ years of hands-on experience in construction project management or a closely related discipline
- Solid background working within demolition, environmental remediation, or comparable project environments
- Demonstrated ability to control budgets, maintain schedules, and manage project documentation with accuracy
- Strong interpersonal, leadership, and organizational capabilities
Preferred:
- A degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a comparable field of study
- OSHA credentials or working knowledge of construction site safety protocols
