Commissioning Team Leader

An established A/E firm is seeking a Commissioning Team Leader to oversee building commissioning efforts across a variety of projects throughout Texas. This leadership position calls for a seasoned professional who excels in collaborative environments, communicates effectively with contractors and TAB professionals, and takes pride in delivering systems that meet the intended performance and design standards. YOUR IMPACT IN THIS ROLE
As the Commissioning Team Lead, you'll take charge of planning, coordinating, and executing commissioning services throughout the full lifecycle of educational and healthcare construction projects. From technical reviews to functional testing, you'll ensure that all systems are validated, documented, and meet stakeholder expectations.
In this role, you will:

Direct and manage commissioning activities across multiple concurrent projects

Partner with owners to define operational performance requirements (OPR)

Evaluate Basis of Design (BOD) documentation for alignment with owner goals

Review design plans and submittals for technical accuracy and commissioning scope

Create and implement commissioning specifications and checklists

Lead regular project meetings and field inspections

Oversee pre-functional and functional system testing, including seasonal evaluations

Track and resolve open issues in coordination with the project team

Analyze and review testing and balancing (TAB) reports

Assemble and maintain system documentation and commissioning reports

Participate in marketing efforts and client development initiatives as needed
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE TEAM

At least 5 years of experience in building commissioning or related engineering disciplines

Excellent organizational skills and strong attention to detail

Willingness to work flexible hours when necessary, including occasional nights or weekends

Deep understanding of building system integration and functional performance criteria

Proficiency with commissioning tools such as CxAlloy or Facility Grid
-
Professional certification required (EIT, PE, or recognized commissioning credential)

Experience with building controls and/or TAB is a strong plus

Background in HVAC design is preferred

LEED AP accreditation is also beneficial
