Job Profile Summary

Reporting to the NIP Regional Project Manager, the CAPEX Project Manager Level 1 (PM) is responsible for the successful delivery of CAPEX projects in the range of €2.5Mio to €15Mio to Business Units in Nutreco meeting scope, budget, and schedule baselines and meeting quality, HSE and internal controls expectations. The PM is part of Nutrecos NIP (Nutreco Industrial Projects) team. The PM works closely with business stakeholders in defining and setting up projects and is responsible for managing a local project team that will manage the project day to day locally. The PM is responsible for managing external parties such as designers, consultants and contractors. The PM is also responsible for preparing for Steering Committee and business stakeholder meetings. The PM follows the NIP project management processes and design standards to ensure successful project delivery. The PM hands over the project to Business Unit teams after successful commissioning and acceptance.

The PM role requires strong technical skills, proven project management experience, and an understanding of manufacturing operations. The PM will have in-depth knowledge of and experienced with specific project management systems/tools.

Job Description

Project Preparation and Planning Stage:

  • Ensures the requirements of a project are made explicit, challenge requirements in view of the business of functional targets, in line with the project goals and objectives and budget requirements, in order to safeguard that the project goals are aligned with business stakeholder needs.
  •  Plans, budgets, oversees, and documents all aspects of the project (scope, governance, cost, timing, technology, quality, constraints, assumptions, interdependencies, risks and other issues). Assigns the responsibilities and tasks in the project team and provides detailed project schedules, identifying and sequencing the activities needed to successfully complete the project.
  •  Ensures completion of agreed Stage deliverables within agreed timeline and budget. Ensures well-defined, unambiguous project designs, reviewed & signed off by relevant stakeholders. Provides well-defined execution strategies and accurate CAPEX estimates based on market pricing.
  •  Establishes an adequate project governance structure to enable efficient communication to the project team, stakeholders and users.

Project Execution:

  • Manages the project execution, coordinates all involved internal and external parties and monitors consistency with the project baselines (scope, budget, schedule) and approved changes thereof. Manages change accurately following a change management process.
  • Responsible for adherence to Nutreco policies and regulatory requirements, as well as ensuring construction safety.

Project Monitoring, Control and Reporting:

  •  Analyses, determines and manages a Project Management Plan and monitors, controls and steers the realization of deliverables in line with agreed quality agreements, standards, budget, and guidelines.
  •  Monitors, manages, and reports about the budget, time, organization, resources, quality, and risks of the assigned projects, takes corrective actions when necessary, and ensures adequate reporting, to ensure that the Project is delivered as per agreed baselines. Ensures a solid project administration, documentation according in line with Nutreco guidelines.

Project Hand Over:

  • Ensures the hand over of projects to business stakeholders, including project documentation, completing commissioning activities, definition of potential follow-up activities and handing the project over to the business, ensuring that project results are transparent and accessible for relevant stakeholders.

Key accountability

  • As part of project delivery responsibility, responsible for HSE management in projects and meeting the relevant HSE KPIs defined for projects. This includes a pro-active attitude towards creating safety awareness, development of safe designs, ensuring contractor HSE compliance, etc.
  • Accountable for implementing NIP project management processes, Nutreco standards (Design, HSE, Quality, Internal controls, etc.) in co-operation with NIP Regional Project Manager and NIPs PMO Lead, adopting a practical approach focused on the needs of projects.
  • Actively maintains a good relationship with the local business stakeholders and provides updates for Steering Committee and stakeholder´s meetings.
  • Being responsible for successful project delivery, which includes leading discussions with consultants and contractors, re-assigning project team members, defining scope, developing CAPEX estimates & schedules, etc.
  • Responsible to manage escalations coming from the local project team, and timely escalation to NIP Regional Project Manager
  • Manage consultancies related to project permitting activities and supporting business stakeholders in obtaining construction and operating permits
  • Responsible for land selection and supporting land acquisition if applicable, managing a solid search & selection process with local consultancies and supporting business stakeholders in the purchase of the land
  • Actively challenge scope looking continuously leveraging on value engineering, life cycle analysis, and any innovative solution/tool to deliver value for Nutreco
  • Leads contracting strategy definition and participates in procurement processes like pre-qualifications and tenders. Co-decision maker for contract awards. Works closely with procurement and legal stakeholders having the responsibility of meeting procurement time schedules.
  • Supports continuous improvement of NIP policies by sharing best practices & lessons learnt, and implements successful/proven new methodologies to expedite project execution while reducing CAPEX.
