QS Engineer
Location: DRC (Site-Based, Rotation)
Employment Type: Contract 12-month
We are seeking an experienced QS Engineer (Quantity Surveying Engineer) to support our client's project operations by managing project scope, quantities, cost control, and contractual processes across mining and infrastructure projects.
About the Role
Reporting to the Projects Control (Services) Manager, you will be responsible for quantifying, costing, and tracking project scope and progress, ensuring alignment with budgets, schedules, and project management frameworks.
This role requires strong technical, commercial, and analytical skills, with the ability to work across the full project lifecycle from planning through to close-out.
Key Responsibilities:
- Define and quantify project scope, cost estimates, and quantities
- Manage QS activities across the full project lifecycle (planning to close-out)
- Track project costs and progress against budget and schedule
- Support development of WBS and integrated project schedules
- Analyse critical path activities and resolve cost-related risks
- Measure, price, and manage variation orders and contract changes
- Prepare and maintain cost reports, registers, and documentation
- Compile and manage contracts, purchase orders, and progress certificates
- Conduct site audits and validate progress and cost measurements
- Support final account preparation and project close-out processes
Requirements:
- Degree in Engineering, Quantity Surveying, or related field
- Valid QS certification and membership with a recognised QS association
- Minimum 5–10 years' experience in quantity surveying within mining or heavy industry projects
- Strong understanding of project management frameworks and cost control practices
- Experience with Earned Value Management (EVM) and project planning tools (e.g. MS Project)
- Proven experience in contract management and cost reporting
- Fluent in English and French (preferred)
- Previous expat experience in Africa advantageous
