Position Overview
We are seeking a qualified and experienced High Voltage Electrician to join our mining operations as an expatriate. The successful candidate will be responsible for the installation, maintenance, and repair of high voltage electrical systems to ensure safe and continuous plant and site operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Install, maintain, and repair high voltage (HV) electrical systems, including transformers, switchgear, and substations
- Perform fault finding, diagnostics, and troubleshooting on HV equipment
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance and inspections
- Ensure compliance with site safety standards and electrical regulations
- Isolate and test HV systems in accordance with lockout/tagout procedures
- Support commissioning of new electrical installations and upgrades
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and reports
- Train and mentor local electricians where required
- Work closely with engineering and operations teams to minimize downtime
Minimum Requirements
- Trade qualification as an Electrician with High Voltage certification
- Minimum 5–8 years' experience in mining or heavy industrial environments
- Proven experience working with high voltage systems (typically 11kV – 132kV)
- Valid wireman's license (or equivalent international certification)
- Strong fault-finding and problem-solving skills
- Experience working on remote mining sites
Preferred Requirements
- Experience in Africa or other remote/expat environments
- Knowledge of mining plant operations (crushers, conveyors, processing plants)
- HV switching authorization
