Role Overview

We are seeking a highly experienced Senior Technical Writer to support the development of investment-grade documentation for executive and senior leadership review.

This role is not suited to junior writers or generalists. The successful candidate will have deep exposure to capital projects, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to translate complex technical and financial inputs into clear, concise, decision-ready investment papers.

The position is primarily remote-based; however, regular site visits will be required to engage with project teams, gain first-hand project understanding, and ensure alignment across disciplines.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop investment papers, business cases, and executive-level reports for capital project approvals

  • Lead and support project scope documentation, including scope narratives and supporting technical inputs

  • Translate engineering, cost, schedule, and risk information into clear executive summaries

  • Work closely with project managers, engineers, estimators, and finance teams to ensure accuracy and alignment

  • Support and review capital cost estimates, assumptions, and supporting documentation

  • Ensure documentation meets internal governance, assurance, and executive review standards

  • Participate in site visits to build project understanding and maintain stakeholder alignment

Required Experience & Competencies

  • 10+ years experience within capital projects (mining, energy, infrastructure, or EPC environments preferred)

  • Proven experience producing investment papers or executive-level project documentation

  • Strong understanding of:

    • Project scope definition

    • Capital cost estimating and cost drivers

    • Project governance and approval processes

  • Ability to communicate complex technical and financial information clearly and confidently to executives

  • High attention to detail with strong analytical and structuring skills

  • Comfortable working independently in a remote setup while engaging with site-based teams
