About Your Company

King Deux is partnering with a global L/S equity hedge fund in adding a research associate to the team. You will work with the investment team closely and support commercial due diligence, market research, taking lead in expert calls on global companies. You can be based out in Shenzhen / Shanghai or Hong Kong for this role and work remotely with the team.

About your role

• Conduct in-depth market and industry research on global equity opportunities, with an emphasis on technology and adjacent sectors.

• Support both public and private deal pipelines through commercial due diligence, market sizing, competitive benchmarking and customer/partner mapping.

• Plan, coordinate and synthesize expert calls, management meetings and channel checks to generate differentiated investment insights.

• Build and maintain company and industry databases, including tracking key KPIs, market developments and competitive dynamics.

• Assist in building and updating financial and operational models to support investment theses and scenario analysis (for both listed and unlisted companies).

• Draft high-quality research materials, including investment memos, meeting notes, sector primers and thematic reports for the investment committee.

• Monitor existing portfolio companies (public and private), including tracking news flow, earnings, alternative data and industry trends.

• Collaborate closely with portfolio managers and investment professionals across regions to support idea generation and portfolio construction.

What you will need to succeed

• 3–5 years of experience in management consulting, market research/insights agency, or sell-side equity research (TMT / tech experience preferred but not strictly required).

• Strong interest in investing and capital markets, with familiarity across both public and private investment concepts (e.g. market mapping, unit economics, cohort analysis, competitive moats, valuation basics).

• Proven experience conducting commercial due diligence, market assessments, customer/competitor interviews or expert calls.

• Solid analytical and problem-solving skills; comfortable working with data, building structured frameworks and forming clear, evidence-based views.

• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to distill complex topics into concise insights and recommendations.

• Highly organized, detail-oriented and able to manage multiple projects and timelines in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.

• Self-starter with strong ownership mentality, intellectual curiosity and a team-oriented mindset.

• Bachelor’s degree or above in Business, Economics, Finance, Engineering or related discipline; additional qualifications (CFA, MBA, etc.) a plus.

• Fluent English required; Mandarin proficiency strongly preferred given Greater China coverage.
