Introduction

As part of our ongoing organisational growth and the increasing demand across our technical and operational teams, we are initiating an in-house recruitment process to appoint a Recruitment Specialist (Technical / Telecommunications) to join our HR team. We would appreciate your assistance in sourcing high-quality, suitable candidate.

Duties & Responsibilities

1. Requirements Translation (The "Intake")

  • Stack Analysis: Understanding the difference between a Java Developer (Backend) and a JavaScript Developer (Frontend/Fullstack) so they don't waste time on the wrong profiles.
  • Problem Definition: Asking hiring managers if they need a "Maintenance Engineer" to keep things running or a "Greenfield Developer" to build something from scratch.

2. Strategic Sourcing & Boolean Mastery

  • Boolean Searching: Using complex search strings on platforms like GitHub, Stack Overflow, and LinkedIn to find engineers based on code contributions rather than just resumes.
  • Community Engagement: Attending (or sponsoring) hackathons, tech meetups, and dev conferences to build long-term relationships.

3. Technical Vetting & Pre-Screening

  • Initial Technical Screening: Asking high-level questions to verify fundamental knowledge (e.g., explaining the difference between $REST$ and $GraphQL$).
  • Administering Assessments: Managing the logistics of technical tests or "take-home" coding challenges using platforms like Codility or HackerRank.

4. Candidate Experience & "Geek" Advocacy

  • Value Proposition: Selling the "cool factor" of the tech—is it high-scale, does it use AI, or is it solving a difficult legacy problem?
  • Closing the Deal: Acting as a mediator during salary negotiations, often involving complex packages like base pay, bonuses, and RSUs (Restricted Stock Units).

Desired Experience & Qualification

Key Requirements:

  • Proven experience in Technical / IT recruitment.
  • Exposure to telecommunications (advantageous).
  • Strong stakeholder management and coordination skills.
  • Ability to manage end-to-end recruitment processes.
  • High attention to detail and quality of submissions.

Additional Requirements:

  • Candidates must be based in South Africa, Johannesburg.
  • Must be willing to work on-site (Centurion).
  • Preference will be given to candidates who can operate in a fast-paced, high-growth environment.
