We are seeking a detail-oriented Offshore Estimating & Drafting Assistant to support our Commercial Manager in the delivery of residential construction projects. This is a dual-function role combining estimating support with drafting responsibilities. The successful candidate will assist with quantity take-offs, reviewing documentation, subcontractor and supplier procurement, scope preparation, issuing of Purchase Orders and general estimating administration to ensure accurate and timely project pricing.

Estimating Support

  • Complete quantity take-offs from architectural and engineering drawings.
  • Measure and quantify building materials and trade packages.
  • Assist in preparing cost estimates and tender submissions.
  • Maintain estimating databases and pricing schedules.

Scope of Works Preparation

  • Prepare clear and accurate trade scopes of work for subcontractor pricing.
  • Review project documentation and identify scope gaps or inconsistencies.
  • Assist with tender package preparation.

Supplier & Subcontractor Procurement

  • Source and obtain quotations from suppliers and subcontractors.
  • Follow up outstanding quotations and maintain quote registers.
  • Compare quotations and prepare pricing summaries for review.
  • Build and maintain supplier and subcontractor relationships.
  • Prepare and issue Purchase Orders to subcontractors.

Commercial Administration

  • Organise project documentation and estimating records.
  • Assist with drawing coordination across trades (ie structural, mechanical, electrical).
  • Manage and maintain drawing registers and revision control.
  • Review and markup drawings for review by the Commercial Manager or project team.
  • Convert sketch concepts, hand-drawn details, and design intent into formal construction documentation using CAD software (AutoCAD, Revit or similar).
  • Coordinate RFI (Request for Information) drawing responses.
  • Update procurement trackers and cost schedules.
  • Assist with reporting and data entry as required by the Commercial Manager.
  • achelor's Degree in any Engineering course.
  • 3–5 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Experience in the Australian residential construction industry is required. Experience with Melbourne/Victorian residential projects is highly preferred, while New Zealand residential construction experience is also considered an advantage.
  • Proven experience working on high-end residential projects, including new builds, renovations, and extensions.
  • Proficient in PlanSwift and Bluebeam.
  • Familiarity with Buildertrend, particularly for managing contract agreements, is an advantage.
