 The NOC Network Engineer 1 coordinates and facilitates onsite support to any network related concerns and issues.  He/she is responsible for maintaining network availability and reliability.

Duties and Responsibilities: 

 

  • Acknowledge the calls and assigned service requests, incidents, or queries via Service Desk according to SLA   

  • Monitor the system health and acknowledge alert in the centralized SolarWinds monitoring 

  • Provide Level 1&2 Technical Support (Physical & Configuration Support)    

  • Respond and own until resolution of hardware or software problems 

  • Network L1 implementations and troubleshooting   

  • Document Method of Procedures for Maintenance of Hardware and Software initiatives 

  • Assist OSS to perform duties as assigned 

  • Interface with Network Operations Center and Service Desk during Critical Events and Outages    

  • Provide Escalation Support to immediate superior.    

  • Perform hardware initial installation, racking and configuring of server and data center infrastructure 

  • Schedule routine maintenance tasks on assigned networks, to ensure that downtime is eradicated 

Minimum Competencies: 

 

  • Set up and administrative Layer 2 devices 

  • Provide hardware and software engineering support for IT client / server applications 

  • Intervene in situations which require an immediate response such as external virus or malware threats 

Minimum Qualifications: 

 

  • At least 1-2 years experienced working in NOC environment  

  • Previous experience working with network­ L1 troubleshooting 

  • Knowledge in handling Networking Protocols such as: VLAN, STP, Routing Protocols, IP Telephony and QoS 

  • Must be an excellent communicator/facilitator; ability to interface with clients at all levels     

  • Knowledge in handling network and access points such as Dell and Ruckus Products
