The Project Quality Engineer ensures the quality of construction and fit-out activities by making sure they meet project specifications, standards, and regulations. This includes developing quality control systems, performing inspections, and keeping quality records. The Project Quality Engineer (PQE) manages the quality assurance processes for office fit-out projects, ensuring they meet KMC Projects & Design Department’s guidelines. The PQE ensures all fit-out activities are of high quality and coordinates testing, inspections, and audits to ensure project success.

The main responsibilities of a WORKPLACE OPERATIONS OFFICER include:

The Quality Assurance and Quality Control (QA/QC) Engineer is responsible for ensuring the highest standards of quality, workmanship, and compliance across all office fit-out and renovation projects. The role demands a deep understanding of the multidisciplinary construction processes, including Civil, Architectural, and Structural disciplines, with a focus on effective coordination, inspection, and continuous improvement.

  1. Quality Assurance:

    • Develop and implement comprehensive Quality Assurance (QA) plans aligned with project specifications and requirements.
    • Ensure adherence to KMC standards in all inspection and testing processes, establishing procedures for effective audits and corrective actions to mitigate quality risks.
    • Collaborate with project teams, including Project Managers, Design, and Engineering teams, to maintain quality assurance throughout project phases.
    • Conduct post-project reviews, providing detailed summaries of each trade scope to drive continuous improvement.
  2. Quality Control:

    • Conduct site inspections to monitor compliance with design specifications, industry standards, and regulatory requirements.
    • Oversee the quality of materials, workmanship, and installation practices, ensuring conformance to project specifications.
    • Oversee third-party testing and inspection activities, ensuring that all tests are conducted in a timely manner and meet required standards.
    • Collaborate with contractors, vendors, and various teams to uphold the quality of systems and materials used in the project.
  3. Documentation and Compliance:

    • Maintain accurate and detailed documentation of all QA/QC activities, including inspection requests, non-compliance reports, calibration certificates, and test results.
    • Ensure that all quality documents are accessible for review by stakeholders, management, and regulatory bodies.
    • Prepare and submit final quality documentation for client turnover, ensuring compliance with both internal standards and external regulations.
    • Stay updated on changes to construction codes and regulations, ensuring the project remains compliant with local, state, and federal requirements.
  4. Communication and Training:

    • Serve as a point of contact for quality-related concerns, liaising with project managers, engineers, subcontractors, and other stakeholders.
    • Provide training and support to team members on quality control procedures, emphasizing the importance of maintaining high standards across all activities.
    • Communicate quality issues, solutions, and updates to stakeholders clearly and effectively.
  5. Performance Monitoring and Reporting:

    • Track and report Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) related to quality and office safety on-site, ensuring continuous improvement.
    • Prepare regular quality reports for management and clients, highlighting key findings, quality control measures, and corrective actions.
    • Ensure effective implementation of inspection and testing schedules, tracking the progress and quality of all procedures.
  6. Material and Service Assessment:

    • Assess the quality and compliance of materials delivered to the site, ensuring they meet project specifications.
    • Review and approve final bills of materials in coordination with the Quantity Surveyor (QS), Projects, and Facilities teams.
    • Monitor the quantity and quality of materials and services delivered and implemented, ensuring that they align with project needs.
