The Senior VMWare Architect (VCF) is expected to deliver VMware Cloud Foundation solutions for enterprise customers, provide hands-on implementation, upgrades, troubleshooting, and clean handoffs to operations. They must also run discovery, translate requirements into executable plans, document what you build, and guide customers through best practices across vSphere, vSAN ESA, NSX, Aria, and SDDC Manager.

  • Lead technical discovery sessions and capture requirements, risks, and constraints.
  • Build implementation plans for VCF 9.x (management and workload domains; single and multi-site).
  • Deploy and upgrade SDDC Manager, vCenter/vSphere, vSAN ESA, NSX, and Aria (Operations/Network/Logs, LCM).
  • Execute migrations and version upgrades; assist with HCX or other workload mobility as needed.
  • Configure monitoring, alerting, health checks, and capacity baselines; tune for stability and performance.
  • Produce runbooks, recovery procedures, and admin guides; deliver customer knowledge transfer.
  • Contribute level-of-effort estimates and right-sizing/licensing input for statements of work.
  • Support DR and backup objectives working with customer teams and adjacent vendors.
  • Follow change control and quality standards; keep crisp records in ticketing and documentation systems.
  • Mentor junior engineers on delivery methods, tool usage, and VMware best practices.
  • 5–10 years with VMware core platforms in enterprise environments.
  • 2+ years operating or implementing VCF at scale preferred.
  • Strength in at least two: NSX (segmentation, EVPN/BGP), vSAN ESA, Aria suite, multi-site DR.
  • Own implementations end-to-end: plan, deploy, validate, document, and hand off.
  • Clear written documentation and the ability to explain technical decisions to both engineers and executives.
  • Scripting fundamentals (PowerCLI or Python) and familiarity with Terraform for vSphere/NSX are a plus.

Certifications (preferred)

  • VCAP (Design or Deploy in DCV/NV/CMA).
  • VCDX or Broadcom Software Knight welcomed but not required.

 

Nice to have

  • Aria Automation; HCX; Live Recovery experience.
  • Exposure to GPU/AI workloads on VCF and secure data-zone patterns.
  • Familiarity with compliance frameworks and hardening guides (STIGs, CIS).
