We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented remote Accounting Assistant to join our team. As a Accounting Assistant, you will be responsible for providing essential support in various accounting tasks, such as data entry, processing invoices, reconciling accounts, and assisting with financial reporting & Tax Office Lodgements. This is a remote position, allowing you to work from the comfort of your own location.

- Assist with day-to-day accounting operations, including but not limited to accounts payable and receivable, invoicing, expense tracking, and bank reconciliations.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records and ensure compliance with relevant accounting regulations.
- Process vendor invoices, verify accuracy, and ensure timely payments.
- Collaborate with team members to review and reconcile financial transactions and resolve discrepancies.
- Assist in the preparation of management reports including Profit & Loss and Balance Sheet
- Assist with budgeting and forecasting activities, providing support in gathering relevant data and preparing reports.
- Perform data entry tasks accurately and efficiently, ensuring proper coding and classification of financial transactions.
- Assist in the preparation and submission of Business Activity Statements and other statutory filings.
- Maintain confidentiality of financial information and exercise discretion in handling sensitive data.
- Stay updated on industry trends and changes in accounting regulations to ensure compliance and efficient operations.
- 5 years experience similar to role.
- Experience using XERO accounting software.
- Experience working for Australia or New Zealand companies or clients.
- Proven experience working as an accounting assistant or in a similar role.
- Strong knowledge of basic accounting principles and practices.
- Proficiency in using accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Xero) and MS Excel.
- Proficiency in using MS Outlook and MS Teams
- Excellent attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and recordkeeping.
- Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
- Effective communication skills, both written and verbal.
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision and as part of a remote team.
- High level of integrity and professionalism.
- Familiarity with remote collaboration tools and technology.
