PURPOSE OF POSITION

The Crew Purser efficiently manages all crew related financial and administrative matters onboard the ship and ensures that these matters are carried out in accordance with Vikings STAR Service Standards.

It is your responsibility to create a friendly, guest-oriented service culture to ensure guest satisfaction and repeat business, which in turn, will increase revenue and profitability of the company.

YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES

Ensure the accurate completion of crew files including certification, travel documents, personal details, etc.

Prepare and administer accurate payroll and onboard crew accounts; process crew cash advances and ShipMoney requirements, as per company guidelines and Standard Operating Procedures.

Liaise with Port Agents for crew sign on/off procedures and requirements; prepare crew documents necessary for in/outbound port clearances; make the necessary travel arrangements for off signing crew members; liaise with Port Agents and Department Heads for crew travel arrangements.

Prepare and submit end of month financial reports; maintain accurate cash floats and request required funds from the Hotel Purser in a timely manner.

Prepare and assist with immigration and custom clearances; manage the onboard distribution of particular crew manifest information.

In conjunction with the HR Manager and Medical Team, assist with crew medical disembarkations.

Maintain crew manifests for onboard safety regulations and international requirements (i.e. Shore Passes etc.); ensure that crew passports and Seamans Books are maintained and valid.

Manage the completion of the signing on/off process for all crew members in MXP; ensure that crew passports hold valid visas and ensure that all necessary information is accurately loaded into MXP.

Participate in The Daily Reunion every day to understand your teams operational needs and to ensure consistent adherence to Vikings STAR Service Standards.

Ensure you always wear the appropriate and task specific Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) as required for your duties onboard. Always use correct lifting techniques to prevent injuries.

Uphold impeccable grooming standards at all times by complying with Vikings Image and Uniform Standards.

Ensure that company property is appropriately secured and protected, especially during rough weather conditions, in order to prevent unnecessary loss or damage.

Demonstrate outstanding flexibility: must be able to work at different times of the day, under pressure and reflect a positive can-do attitude and the best image of Viking at all times.

Become knowledgeable about itinerary-related ports of call, shore excursions and shipboard activities such as events, entertainment and programs.

Have strong motivation to achieve the company goals and objectives (quality and financial) for the Hotel Administration Department.

CREW PURSER

Have full knowledge about safety & security procedures and can operate in line with all Public Health, Environmental and Safety & Security Policies; participate in all training concerning onboard training, safety & security, fire prevention, evacuation exercises as required by the company.

Assist in other departments and/or perform additional duties, upon instruction from supervisors.

YOUR PROFILE:

A required minimum of one year plus experience in the same role.

Fluent in English - must be able to address any kind of information in an adequate manner with excellent oral and written English communication skills the ability to speak an additional language is an advantage.

Flexible, stress resistant, committed team player and exceptional work ethic is required; must demonstrate the ability to work independently.

Must have a financial background, relative to accounting; strong administration skills are preferred and must be proficient with PC based databases, spread sheets, and word processing systems.

Must handle all communications whether written, email, or telephone with confidentiality.

Guest-focused, service-oriented, positive personality, professional appearance and impeccable hygiene standards, with excellent knowledge of all Public Health Policies are required.
