Use the power of words to mobilise resources, inspire partners, and bring visibility to children through writing compelling grant proposals, powerful impact stories, speeches, and annual reports.


Role Expectations

*All the tasks mentioned below would be key to your role. The following requirements are not mentioned in order of priority.

  • Co-write and support the development of high-stakes documents, including grant applications, concept notes, funding decks, and reports for global funders and institutional partners.

  • Work closely with the fundraising and leadership teams to tailor proposals and communication materials for different donors and grant opportunities.

  • Craft compelling child-centred stories using data and research for proposals, reports, presentations, newsletters, social media, and short films.

  • Simplify complex ideas, translate program data and outcomes into compelling, impactful narratives.

  • Collaborate with internal teams (program, research, fundraising) to gather content, create briefs, and deliver high-quality outputs on time.

  • Write powerful impact stories around wellbeing, mental health and other parts of the program.

  • Adapt and execute Labhyas tone and voice consistently across all platforms.

  • Develop content for speeches, campaigns, and sector publications.

  • Maintain and evolve Labhyas brand voice across platforms - balancing humility, gratitude, and excellence.

  • Support leadership with thought pieces, op-eds, and key messaging.

  • Create engaging captions, newsletters, and short-form content tailored for social media and donors.

Experience

  • Minimum 2 years of experience in grant writing, development communications, journalism, copywriting, or similar roles.

  • Strong interest in Social Emotional Learning (SEL), mental health, psychosocial development, and children's well-being is preferred.

  • Prior experience writing/co-writing donor proposals, fundraising decks, reports or writing for global philanthropic organizations, multilateral donors, or government funders is preferred.

Characteristics

  • This is not just a writing role - it is a strategic role that requires intellectual agility, creativity, and sharp communication skills to translate complex ideas into simple, powerful narratives.

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, Google Suite, and other tools such as Canva.

  • Skilled at designing presentations and ideating infographics, and structured multi-page documents (PDFs, decks, reports).

  • Fluent in English - written and spoken; knowledge of Hindi, Bengali, or Gujarati is a plus.)

  • Deeply committed to integrity, transparency, and trust in both process and relationships.

  • Open to experimentation, learning, and collaboration in a fast-moving, purpose-driven environment.

  • A self-starter & problem solver who acts with urgency and can find effective solutions to complex challenges.

  • Exceptional writing skills with the ability to craft content that is clear, compelling, and adaptable across audiences (donors, partners, educators, public).

  • Comfortable working closely with leadership, programs, design, and other teams.

  • Flexibility to adapt, unlearn, and relearn to write authentically in Labhyas unique voice and style.

  • Storytelling ability to adapt and execute based on platforms and audiences.
